Was already mentioned in another thread, but I'm not sure what to make of Montana St. this season. Their two losses include a blowout against Oregon and an overtime loss at home against S. Dakota St. The following week they drubbed non-scholarship San Diego, but yesterday could only manage to score 17 points against Patriot League Mercyhurst at home. I won't put this game completely out of EWU's reach, but we'll need to play disciplined and cut down on all of the penalties, TO's, and special teams blunders we saw yesterday. Also, we saw glimpses of a competent passing game yesterday, but still far too many over/under throws and dropped passes. At the moment Miles Williams looks like our best receiver - need to get that guy the ball more often.

I assume they'll be somewhere between 2-3 TD favorites at home. Hope we come ready to play.

It seemed like W. Ill tried their best to attack our young/injured secondary which to my eyes is the weakness of this D. Looking at the stats from MSU's game yesterday it looks like they played really conservatively; just ran the ball a bunch and didn't try to do too much in the passing game, thus the low scoring game. It will be interesting to see if they'll try to test our secondary more than they did yesterday.

If JT isn't 100% for this game, it may make more sense to go with Bell. He seems to be getting better in each game he's played in. Yes, those INT's he threw hurt us but he also accounted for 5 TD's which isn't exactly chopped liver.

Bell looks more explosive to me, although he is TO prone and needs to make better decisions.

Taylor looks like a better game-manager.

Regardless of who the QB is, I don't think the offense fundamentally changes much. Both are running QB's and we need help from our receivers when we actually do throw the ball.

Although WIlliams had a good game yesterday, Ulm seems to have forgotten how to catch the ball, Branch hasn't learned how to use his frame to his advantage yet, and the other guys don't seem to get open.

We're also relying too heavily on passes out of the backfield. To beat MSU we'll need more of the vertical passing game we saw a few glimpses of yesterday.

it'd be nice if we could run something other than QB power every third play.
