MONTANA STATE WEEK

My guess is 2008. My question for the group, when was the last time Weber beat the Bobs in Ogden Utah? MSU doesn't want to go 0-4 in conference so they will be bringing everything they've got to get a win. Weber has motivation though...beating the Bobs at home in over 20 years, going 4-0 in conference, first 4 game winning streak in almost a decade, and winning on our home field. Best way to get fans, to keep winning.

Bobcats, 0-3 BSC 2-4 overall, changed offense between the starter, backup QBs a couple of times in their 20-14 loss to NAU last night. They may be #13 in the cellar of the latest BSC Power Rankings, but they've lost all conference games by a small margin (UND, Sac St, NAU) with the 6 pt loss being the largest margin. They've been a historical pain.... to the Wildcats in conference play several years. A definite challenge to the Wildcats, desiring to be the spoiler once again & get their 1st breakthrough win in conference!! Plenty of incentives for Weber State at home in a 1:30 Saturday afternoon game.

Weber State is off to a 2-0 BSC start for the 2nd year in a row & need a satisfying win here to gear up for the tough challenges coming up. It's not easy, but despite arguable opinions as to the weakness or strength of the BIG SKY Conference, the road doesn't get any easier ahead!!

Wildcats 21 - Bobcats 17

PS. By the way, nice homecoming crowd last night (reported 10,217...might be a bit exaggerated like in basketball ?? ). Hope it continues to build. :thumb:

The four teams in the basement in the little Sky conference is UC Davis, Sac St. Portland St. and Montana St. All have losing records. So WSU gets to play the last doormat of the little sky conference this week, which they go 4 straight, though their average margin of victory is around 4 or 5 points I think. The first real test will be in Cedar City in two weeks against SUU who destroyed WSU last year at home.

Dangerous game for the Wildcats esp. since we seen to run hot and cold on offense. I hope they don't look at MSU's record and think it will be an easy game. I hope they don't think their own 2-0 Big Sky record makes them all that. I'll be in the seats with my kids cheering them on and hope they come away with the win.

WSU 21 MSU 20

Major test this week. Despite their record MSU hasn't lost by a lot of points. And they are desperate for a win.

Weber's defense stepped up and won the PSU game. Hope they can continue to improve.

Clark was Clark. Great running game. Horrible passing game except for one drive. He struggled to make reads and throw the deep ball.

Play calling is still not good either. We need a new game plan.

If Weber continues to struggle on offense, this will be a coin flip. Weber 20 - MSU 17

Montana State is not a cellar dweller. State still has a lot of fire power and can shut down anyone in the conference at anytime. Like another poster said, they are also desperate and want to win a game. Their losses haven't been blow outs and they are really close to breaking through and getting a win. Whereas, on the flip side, Weber has been winning close games. We really need to play a total game. Meaning we need both the defense and offense to show up.

On offense, the passing game was atrocious last week. Clark was back to his old self. Starring down receivers, making passes late, totally off target, and thoroughly inconsistent. Granted his receivers aren't really helping him. They were BAD on Saturday night. I think it is time to mix up the receivers and start playing some other guys. Our TEs and RBs are our best bets to catching a ball. We need more from out offense.

Anyone know how long Garrett is out for? Good to see Pooler and Moimoi getting some carries, both are tough and deserve some carries.

Coach Choate had plenty of comments on Weber State this week. I'll have stories this week about Weber, including a feature on Tre'Von Johnson and a story on Choate and Jay Hill's past connections.

Bobcats lead the series 30-20,

Last win vs Montana State was a 35-12 win in Bozeman during the 2008 BSC championship season. Since then we have lost 5 straight (three in Ogden).

Weber has not beaten Montana State in Ogden since 1996 and are 2-15 against MSU since then.

It is time to break some streaks and finally beat MSU in Ogden. No more losing to the Northern Cats in our Stadium.

GO WEBER.

The Bobcats are 1-4 but have only lost by a combined 14 points in their 4 losses.

This is gonna be a hungry Bobcat team that is coming into Stewart Stadium. I think they are a better team than their record indicates and it is gonna be a cat fight.

The key for Weber to win is to limit the turnovers, Montana State is 3rd in the Big Sky at +4 while we are 12th at -5. Montana State is also #1 in scoring defense. This will be crucial. We cannot allow ourselves to settle for field goals. Need to get the ball into the endzone.

Here's hoping that both the defense and the offense both show up and we can have a dominating performance and a win over our longtime BSC rivals.

GO WEBER STATE

Thanks for the CAT FIGHT history...I guess I must admit that I suck at Google Search, am computer challenged, I even tried looking back thru my library of old Street & Smith college football magazines trying to find an answer to the group question...but didn't keep any before '98.

We haven't beaten Montana State since the win in Bozeman during our championship 2008 season. I think we're due. :kisswink:

ZACH SMITH
Hey, just maybe some of the coaches really are looking at the post of the 6 of us that are on this blog.
We will all get a chance to see Zach Smith in the line up this Saturday. He has been getting some serious reps this week with the first O. Better late than never, can't wait to see big number 4 in action against a better team than we have seen in the past 3 games. Wishing you well 4#. Now that they are changing some RB's maybe we can get them to do the same at WR, Kick off and Punt returns, but I doubt it. Watched practice this week. No wonder WSU has no vertical passing game. Yes, I was playing hookie from work. Everything in practice was dink and dumps. You can't master what you don't practice. Our all american LB 8# is out for the season with a medical redshirt even though he was named a captain. 30# Hoskins our future Devonte shutdown corner was looking really strong in the secondary as well as the YBU transfer that will start next year in the secondary!

For the record, the athletics department is well aware of this forum, and honestly when they do bother to read it they laugh at a lot of the bullshit on here.

And maybe we on this forum should stop acting like we know everything that goes on behind the scenes in the athletics department and stop acting like we could run things better, because I doubt we could.

According to weberstatesports.com tickets, 11,364 tickets have already been sold which means only 6,136 tickets are available.

Not sure I believe this, but if it's true that's really cool.
