Montana Western

Wildcats make history with a 76-0 victory

New all time score high in a single game.

And with FCS's #14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23 and 24 all losing, Weber should sneak into the FCS Stats top 25. Since Weber was #27.

Sooo, is it not as much fun talking about a win as it is complaining about a loss? It's a ghost town

Thats this forums m.o. apparently

On a positive side note the new polls came out and Weber has now gone from being unranked to moving up to #25. And from 22 to 20 in the coaches poll

Unfortunately, we still don't know much about our Wildcats. We wont know much after this weeks game either. We need a couple of FCS games under our belt to know about where we stand. I will have a better idea after the UC Davis game. It's looking like our big games are going to be EWU, PSU, and MSU. Not that SUU and UM are not important as well. :coffee:

It's kind of hard to talk about that game without trashing Montana Western. And there's no need to do that.

Seems like you've found something to complain about just fine. What's there to talk about anyway? This kind of game benefits neither team and it's unfortunate when a team is pummeled that badly and it's unfortunate when a team is in a position to put the hurt on like that. I was out of town and had to try out Pluto TV. The video quality was good but the audio level was really soft. It was nice being able to watch the game, but I couldn't keep watching after the the start of the 3rd. Blowouts are not fun football no matter which side you're on.

Not true, you can be happy and talk about a win without trashing the other school, that can be saved for Southern Utah. But there were plenty of things to talk about.

1. Our field goal kicker was 10-10 for PAT's and 2-2 for field goals.
2. Offensive chemistry never looked this good in a first game that I can remember
3. On the one drive our defense allowed UM Western to drive we held them out of the endzone and then blocked their Field goal attempt.
4. A crowd of almost 9,000 showed up to watch us play NAIA Montana Western on a hot day on Labor Day weekend.
5. 7 different players had a rushing touchdown
6. Stephan Cantwell's front flip into the endzone :notworthy:
7. The fact that they couldn't get the hype video to play on the scoreboard
8. Our first play from scrimmage was a wide open long bomb.....that the receiver dropped in the endzone.
9. The Earthquake that shook the stadium

etc etc.

Truth hurts. This forum has become notoriously guilty of being more active when negative things happen.

Cant speak for everyone but I had plenty of fun on Saturday night. :coffee:

Regrettably I was out of town, and missed the game entirely. But, like Wildcat pointed out, there are positives. To me, the most important thing was that our team got to hit someone else. Was the competition the best? No...but it was someone else. The Wildcats were able to work out some bugs, get a game under their belts, and build team togetherness and chemistry. Besides, records were broken and a shutout occurred.

Finally, our 2's and 3's got the chance to play and they kept playing at a high level. These guys practice hard and rarely get playing time. If there is a chance for our guys on the lower end of the depth chart to play, we want to see that. These guys might need to play if injuries occur during the season and we need them to have some game experience. They got that on Saturday.

We got to see everyone who is going to play. The intensity didn't seem to drop off for the second and third stringers. After halftime, few starters got back into the game on either side of the ball. With the third string in, our play calling got very conservative, but that didn't really stop us. That last drive, that ended in taking knees, lasted about 9 minutes. We were not trying to run the score up at all. The score could have been in the 80s or 90s, but why would anyone do that to anyone. :coffee:

Can't really discuss a game I didn't watch, live or online. It was Labor Day weekend and staying home and watching a game everyone knew was going to be a blowout wasn't something I wanted to do. I spent the weekend outdoors instead, and glad I did. Glad to hear attendance was decent, although I never believe Weber's reported attendance numbers, but hard to blame those who didn't attend the game.

The numbers reported to be in attendance seemed accurate to me. I was a bit surprised to see it, but it was a good crowd for the circumstances. Hopefully we get more students out for the UC Davis game. The luxury boxes could have been better represented as well. A lot of those people were probably out of town for one last summer fling.

The good news is UC Davis is homecoming and not taking place during a major UTAH traveling holiday.

if we come back from our two game road trip 2-1 there should be a decent return home crowd

I was in attendance. Enjoyed the game. It was nice to see a win even if the competition was suspect. Not sure we learned a lot. Cantwell seemed to make good decisions, his first pass was a beautiful throw even though it was dropped. Mostly we were faster, stronger and more gifted athletically. We literally ran away from them on multiple plays.

One bright spot was the kicker Tuttle. After last years debacle, it was good to see this kid put 10 extra points and two field goals on the board. His leg looked strong and he hit everything straight. One or two kicks were a little low, but still went through.

Our senior, top notch, punter gets one chance all game long. He then proceeds to shank one and it turns into an offensive play, when it hits a UM Western player and we recover it. Honestly, the Bullgods were probably happy to get out of Ogden and forget about everything that happened in that game. If I were them, I would burn and burry that game tape. :wall:
