Montana

Weber State quarterback Stefan Cantwell on the Strong suspension:

“We look at their personnel, their play-makers on defense and seeing that suspension, I guess that’s something we know but it’s not something we too much focus on,” Cantwell said. “There is still going to be another good player to take the spot. But we definitely take that into consideration with the new personnel coming in, lack of experience, certain things, so when opportunities arise hitting the middle of the field or going where they are misaligned on defense is something we are going to be looking for.”

Weber State head coach Jay Hill joined my ESPN radio show on Monday. It's about 1:40:00 into this podcast

Weber's stout secondary encounters explosive Griz offense

Wow! D playing well for the most part and the O playing well enough against a sub-par Griz D. I don't believe Montana is as bad as they look, just as I still don't believe SUU was as good as they appeared in that game. Never the less, that loss could still be crucial come playoff time and hurts bad!

There are about 3 Weber players always talking :shit: when they make plays-- just shut your holes and play the game, good grief!

Some second have issues. Montana had some good adjustments but turnovers were the gamechanger.

Also am i the only who thought Montana was trying to "take" Cantwell out?

Go Wildcats!

Yes, I thought there was some frustrations being directed at Cantwell. Luckily,it didn't look like he got dinged up through it all and the related ejections were called. Unfortunately, that will make the Griz less competitive vs NAU next week. I hope Coach can improve on how they come out of halftime.

I was hoping for a complete game. What we got was a complete half. It was enough to win and I guess that is what counts, but why do we seem to change the way we play when what we were doing was working well? This sort of thing happens in all sports, but that doesn't excuse it. We went bland when bright was working for us. I think we ran on every single first down in the second half. We were 100% predictable on O and D. In the first half we mixed things up a bit more. It was like we were trying to be gentle with Montana.

We may need a complete, full game next week, not just a half. We still have work to do. :coffee:

Although I agree, I'm trying not to be pessimistic about a win, especially against Montana. I'll take one over the Griz every time, not matter how "ugly" it is.

:+1:

You could see the talent in UM's QB. He is going to be a good one for them. However, he does have a tendency to float his mid range passes and that makes them easier to pick off. We won that game on the turn overs. All three interceptions came when UM receivers were wide open, but the pass was hung up in the air so long it allowed our DBs to break on the ball from a long ways off. The one in the second half looked like the receiver broke off his rout, but it still would have been picked, the way it was thrown. :coffee:

Glad that Weber got the win. We had the Griz on the ropes and let them back into the match. To use a boxing analogy, instead of getting a KO we won by decision.

Feel badly about the injured Griz QB. But on the play, it wasn't malicious or illegal. Heck of a player, but that is the nature of the game. He exposed himself in an effort to make a play, which he did, but in the process got eaten alive. It is called football. If you throw 45+ a game, you best be prepared for your QB to get hit. Every play is reviewed. In regards to targeting, It was interesting that the second targeting against Cantwell was actually called from the booth, not on the field. Can't say that crew of Zebra's was the best, but thankfully the booth got it right this time.
