Ya, I think Hayford does a great job listening to the medical staff. I know he is thinking long term (in terms of the season) even though I know it is hard for any coach to rest guys when they need to heal up but might be able to limp through the game.

However, look what we've been able to do without some of our studs. If anything, this is building more confidence for our team and for our fans. A few weeks back I think any one of us would have said that we "have" to have Harvey and/or Venky to win games consistently in this league. Especially on the road. I don't think anyone thinks that anymore. Or, maybe I was the only one that thought that way. And I knew we had more than just Tyler and Venky but I still thought we needed them to win big games. Our team is TRULY BECOMING A TEAM and not just a 1 or 2-man-show. I love that we have a complete team. Just a bunch of skilled players with HUGE HEARTS and I love it.

From the Rafters....
go eags!

Several years age one of our starting guards had a deep bruise that required surgery to relieve the pressure. Fortunately it was diagnosed by trainers on staff or he could have had permanent damage. How can training staff be held responsible for deep bruises?

Keep in mind, the coaches have no say in the matter. If the trainers clear the kid, he is available to play. If they don't, he can't. I've heard some grumblings around Cheney that the training staff is a little more passive about getting a kid cleared than at many other schools. You see it in the sheer volume of injuries as well as the long recovery periods.

Again, I have no idea what this particular situation is... But the trend is a bit concerning. Not the end of the World, obviously, and a big credit to the various teams for finding ways to win even with players out.

A trend can be quantified, you use the words "sheer volume" and "recovery periods" as if you have empirical evidence. I wouldn't consider "grumblings" from people who want athletes on the field or court at all costs as evidence the training staff is too conservative with injuries and athlete recovery.

Completely spaced and forgot this game was today.

I just watched most of the first half, and the last 10 minutes on Big Sky TV. Was pleasantly surprised, as I continue to be this season. I hope this is start of a trend for EWU Basketball under Hayford. I'm cautiously optimistic.

What a win last night, great, great win!!!

If you would have told me we were playing in Missoula, without Tyler Harvey, and the Griz go 13-24 from downtown, I would have thought we would get killed. What a great win.

Drew Brandon was a flat out stud last night.

Great team win, onto MSU...

Big win on the road last night. Love how the team has developed this year. Really looking forward to the remainder of the season and hopefully making the trek over the mountains to catch the Big Sky tournament.
Goeags!

Great road win. If this team can stay focused they have a real chance of finishing conference play with only one loss. Hopefully Harvey can heal up soon.

Nice to see the team play well without Harvey, a true testament to the belief these guys have in each other. Getting a road win is always good, to get one in Missoula is fantastic. Way to go guys!

Isn't it fantastic that we can watch a game we miss or just want to rewatch? Its the best thing about the watchbigsky.com or the app as opposed to a big conference tv network IMO
