OGDEN, UTAH (Feb. 7, 2011) - Weber State’s Trevor Morris and Northern Arizona’s Shane Johannsen have been selected as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball co-players of the week.
Morris, a 6-foot-9 senior center from Nampa, Idaho, averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game as the Wildcats scored home victories over Montana and Montana State. Morris shot 60 percent from the floor and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line in the two wins.
Johannsen, a 6-7 senior center from Phoenix, Ariz., averaged 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.7 steals per game as the Lumberjacks earned home wins over Northern Colorado, Montana State and Montana. Johnannsen hit 76.9 percent of his shots from the floor in the three games.
Morris opened by scoring a career-high 17 points and four rebounds as Weber State ended first-place Montana’s six-game winning streak with a 68-52 win Thursday. Morris made 6-of-11 shots from the floor and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Morris came back Saturday with 17 points, six rebounds, a block and a steal in a 78-58 win over Montana State. Morris made 6-of-9 shots from the floor and was 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
This is the first player of the week honor for Morris.
