Congratulations to the team on the victory over Cal Poly. I am sure that the win means that Collins will be back in 2018. That said...
I find it interesting that the Broncos have decided to fire McCoy their OC because of their losing ways. As NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports, "The thought (inside the brain trust of the Broncos) that there was simply too many plays (that the OC was) trying too hard to out-scheme people and the focus was not enough on execution and just getting it right.”
Sounds familiar. The UNC staff is always talking about personnel and out-scheming the opponent. There is no such thing about this 'silver bullet' theory that focuses on recruiting the right players that are bigger and faster than the opponent. Heck, even some of the contributors to this platform talk about the kids not being FCS talent! Bullcrap! They are and it's the 'collective' coaching staff that is at fault. I have said it before and I will say it again, FOOTBALL IS ABOUT EXECUTION, NOT TALENT! If it was about talent, then USC would always be battling for #1 (btw, I am a Trojan fan). Enough said.
Here is a thought (prayer)... if Collins were to retire now, then he would be going out as a winning coach and might even be treated with respect by the UNC followers. Maybe somebody could convince him to retire gracefully.

Uhm.... when you say “going out as a winning coach...” Elaborate.

My only question is why haven’t he heard an official statement anywhere? Does UNC have a “braintrust” cause I’m fairly confident they have a large enough “sample size” to form a conclusion. #sportstalk

Collins is way too young to retire. I don't think UNC will fire him right now...there's a search for a new president going on.

Are we really moving forward ? I am beside myself with what is going on with this program. Montana dumps Stitt with a winning record . The Broncos dump the OC in mid season, yet we have a HC with an absolute atrocious record and we keep going backwards. There are no excuses left. Let’s please move forward for cripes sake

I don't think enough people care for them to do anything. Granted, this is coming from someone who now lives in Maryland so others closer to the program can feel free to correct me. The Greeley Trib certainly doesn't put any pressure on them and KFKA kind of has their hands tied. Do we have any booster organizations (like the B&G club) that hold there feet to the fire?

Having moved down to the Dallas area 3 years ago have only been back to Greeley once for a game this year it was the Idaho State game and it was a decent crowd and good turnout by the students. I had lived in Greeley for 16 years before moving and had seen the crowds and enthusiasm get less as we transitioned to Div 2 powerhouse to IAA bottom dweller. As long as the program continues to be so far down even less people will care especially when they see no positive changes. Ticket prices went up they charged for parking and no longer allowed me a field pass to take pictures on the website I had. I felt sorry for a lot of students who in their 4 years there may have seen the team win 5 games total. Just disappointed we are 10 years into a 4 year rebuilding program.

That might be the problem. Collins being a former player himself is probably still very connected with the glory players of UNC's past. Therefore they're not holding him as accountable as he should. He's good friends with Vince Jackson and Reed Doughty. They want UNC to succeed but they probably want their friend to be the one at the helm.

I don’t think I agree with that. Even they can see their good friend is not cutting it . If anything they should be on the phone pleading for change. Good lord it has to be apparent to all parties involved that this program is in a free fall and needs to be changed NOW !

I think it's the only logical position though. I think most former players want UNC to succeed, but they're not putting pressure on him. The QB Club, others, etc. That and there is a search for the new president and it wouldn't be prudent to go through a new coaching search too.

Would be nice to walk and chew bubblegum, but that might be too difficult for us as a school/program.

I keep looking the official website to see if there's an update on the coaching staff, but there is nothing. :(

At the very least get rid of Jones, and the strength and conditioning coach Jeff Butler. Please Collins...please!

I went to the Trib site and there is nothing their either. Really depressing that it seems that we will have the same staff going into next season. We probably can't afford to fire the staff, pay their salaries and then hire another staff.

I see that Marty English as "retired" at CSU. I wouldn't mind seeing him return to UNC. His defenses were always solid and he's a decent recruiter. Anyone is better than Jones right now.
