Illinois State is a physical football team and I was surprised that there secondary was not very good. I knew that MSU would be in for a battle with ISU as they had a Great defensive line and stout linebackers.
I believe that EWU needs to have a defensive identity going forward. I felt that even when BB was coaching that if we had a stout defense to go along with our prolific offenses back then we could have a couple more National titles.( I admit to being a bit biased here here) I seem to remember when our offense carried the team only to have the defenses collapses and we lose in the playoffs in the final minutes. We had above average defenses but not GREAT defenses in that BB era.
AB is in love with recruiting offensive multiple offensive lineman and tight ends. He can't seem to grasp that great defenses are important, does recruit elite defensive players or great defensive minded coaches. We are going to get our tails kicked again in 2026, we just don't have it together all the way around.
