Must....get....Dano....Graves

I honestly believe this kid could be the kind of local player that gets the general Sacramento fan engaged in the program. He is single-handedly destroying the #4 high school team in the country tonight (Grant) at Sac State right now.

I know he's little, but he's a Doug Flutie-type....a playmaker.

Heard he's contemplating Sac and Air Force

I'd like to see us go after Collin Rhoades and Joey Armtrong out of Lodi High. They led the Flames to the Sac-Joaquin Section semis for the first time ever before running into the buzzsaw known as Pleasant Grove.

Hornet Stadium looks pretty sweet with 20,000 in the seats. It would be nice if we could get that consistently for the Hornets next year.

I hope for the Hornets sake that some of the big programs don't start wising up after last night's game and the State Bowl game to come. The Hornets NEED this kid. I know they already have a verbal commit from a talented So Cal QB, but landing Graves would be the icing on the cake. Not only that, perhaps he could entice Tyler Trosin and / or Kori Babineaux to come with him (Jordan Richards is already verbally committed to Stanford). Did anyone see the unbelievable catch Trosin made at the end of the first half? He was hit so hard he did a complete flip, yet hung on. That kid should make a fantastic possession receiver at the next level. He catches everything.

Is that Trosin kid any relation to Tony Trosin? I coached with Tony for a year at Capital High.

BTW, the papers were saying Graves likely wouldn't play at all due to injury. Amazing what a guy can do when he's SUPPOSED to be hurt.

Correct Tyler and his younger brother Tanner (Folsom's back up QB) are sons of former Hornet QB Tony Trosin. Tony Trosin is now an assistant coach for football and Folsom's head track and field coach. Love to see those two come back to their Hornet roots! Dano Graves is amazing, he would be a real pick up, hes going to be a steal for whom ever is lucky enough to pick him up. He would be exciting to watch for four years! Right now some schools may shy away because of his size but if he continues his magic at the State Championship game he is going to open some eyes. Lets hope that playing in front of 20,000 at Sac State last night left a favorable impression on them!

He was nursing an injury and not completely 100%. He wore a brace on the injured knee. While he obviously was able to perform at a high level, there was no dishonestly going on. Earlier in the week Dano had said he was going to play and would sport a knee brace. No ligament damaged just a slight sprain.

That's the hope.

did they really fill up the stadium for that game? was that the only game of the night? pretty impressive for a high school final, even with all the hype leading up to it.

I watched the game last night on Kbcsports.com. The entire visiting side (Folsom's) side was packed and when they paned the home side, it looked really full also. I was very impressed by the turnout. I was also very impressed by Folsom. Grant did not look as hot as they did in the first game against Folsom. As a proud De La Salle alum, I would say that the Spartans would thump either of those teams. Of course, we will never know.

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section staged the D-II Championship at Sac State last night and the D-I and D-III Championships at Sac State today. The D-IV Championship was held last night at Stockton-Lincoln, and the Division V and Division VI Championships were held last week at the historic Grape Bowl in Lodi. The Grape Bowl recently installed that crap called FieldTurf. (No-one will EVER convince me it's better than grass. Especially since there's a chain link fence just beyond the east goal post that presents a problem similar to Northwestern's game at Wrigley this year.)

A great high school football game and environment, and I must say Graves is quite impressive!

-if someone could explain how to post a picture I took a few showing how packed the stadium was

BUMP...

Just watched this kid total 6 TDS in the State Championship versus a team stocked with DI talent in Serra. This is Sperbecks most important recruit in a long time. He's a Doug Flutie-type that just is an amazing football player, and should be in consideration for National Player of the Year.

You get him and you also get the local fans.

I sure hope so...amazing performance tonight and the rest of the Bulldog kids!

Congrats Folsom on your 2010 State Championship!!

Those SoCal schools think they're the [bleep]. So far, they've LOST three of the four numbered bowl games with only the open game to go, and Anaheim-Servite is facing perennial powerhouse Concord-De La Salle.

Graves had better get a grasp of his accuracy, but given the combination of his passing AND his legs, the Big Sky had BETTER watch out if we snag him. If he can be coached up on the accuracy, he could be the West Coast version of Armanti Edwards. If that pans out, FCS is in for a world of hurt!

I spoke to a family member of Dano's about a month ago and he said that Dano was leaning towards Sac State and staying close to home... From what he told me yesterday, this late season push has increased his visibility and other schools are making a push, including UC Dungpile... :-/

Heard that too.... I think we would have the advantage over Davis in that I'm sure they want him as a slot receiver. They typically go for pro-style qbs, whereas he would be more of a natural fit at QB in our system.

Man, this is a weekend of NorCal domination. In the Open bowl, Anaheim-Servite is getting their rears handed to them by Concord-De La Salle. The score is 35-0 in the freaking SECOND quarter. Sac better be looking to DLS, too!

I think Graves has received an offer from Portland State now. Their coach is from Jesuit. He'll probably be watching a lot of kids from this area.

His connection to the area is MUCH more than Jesuit, TGH. He played for UOP, too.

I really think Dano would be a great fit here... He's mobile, accurate, and if we can get him outside the pocked on occasion should limit the impact his lack of size has on his ability to perform at the DI level. Can you imagine the boost in attendance and local attention with him on the roster as well? I don't think it's too far-fetched to believe that Dano's presence on our roster could bring an additional 500-1000 interested folks to Hornet Stadium...

He would most likely have the opportunity to Red Shirt next year with Fleming returning. After that, it'd be a situation where Dano and Jake Geringer would be the two options at QB in 2012.
