He's actually writing about the current staff and why they're not fired. Todays article basically re-states what most of us have been saying on the board. There is not pressure to win from the administration, lack of great facilities, and salary, and a president that supports the coach. Poor excuses..if you ask me. UNC can get a solid niche fan base at this level if they just win. I can easily see 7K-8K at Nottingham every Saturday with just some upgrades at Nottingham and most of all a consistent winning team. I just hope the new president urges ALL athletic teams to win, but win with integrity.

Everyone needs to contact the athletic department and take their concerns to them.

Here is the link to the article in the Tribune

I read this also and wanted to puke. It may be good enough for Kay Norton but its not for me and I think I am done. I am not gonna settle for mediocrity. I have held out longer than my friends due to my optimism but I am done. They will not receive another penny from me until something is done !

What a sad period for UNC football. This is what is considered good enough. No longer contributing to football program also.

Previous 5 years the Downing era 9-47.

Year Team Overall
2011 Northern Colorado 0–11
2012 Northern Colorado 5–6
2013 Northern Colorado 1–11
2014 Northern Colorado 3–8
2015 Northern Colorado 6–5
2016 Northern Colorado 6–5
2017 Northern Colorado 3–7
Overall Record at UNC 24–53

This part is the key and he provides no information to back up this claim:
"UNC is a mid-major school with less than an average mid-major budget and resources."
I would love to see him do a deep dive into at least the other Big Sky schools budget and resources. Throw into the fact that we must have one of the larger recruiting populations (being near the Denver metro area) we should be doing better.

"If it wasn't for a 3-8 season — preceded by back-to-back 6-5 seasons — the point [Collins' job security] would be moot." What?

"A new president may not see much past the win-loss record." Please let this be so.

At least the Prez and the CFO will get theirs, despite a faculty freeze and tuition hikes:

UNC freezing faculty salaries for 2019 fiscal year, but tuition will only go up 3 percent
The University of Northern Colorado will freeze faculty and exempt staff salaries for the 2019 fiscal year...according to a memo sent Thursday to faculty and staff by UNC President Kay Norton.

Large payments made to University of Northern Colorado president, CFO
"Norton received $54,500 and Quinn received $24,000. The compensation comes after years of financial struggles at UNC and a series of tuition increases — 5.8 percent in 2015, 8.4 percent in 2016 and 6.8 percent in 2017. This has raised some questions about its prudence."

There is the problem. Fix this crap first and then settle the football situation.

Its just a damn shame that Collins is still here. By keeping him , it is not only going to hurt the football program but all of the sports programs. Wake up Dammit ! How do we start a mass protest ?

I didn't know that UNC was bleeding money like it is (as an academic institution).

If only Greeley would allow a certain business (just one, buried on the outskirts of town, far from the sanctity of the many liquor stores). Tax it to death and earmark a certain percentage for UNC.

If Greeley residents are just going to adjacent Garden City would it really destroy Greeley to keep that money local and use it to curb the annual tuition hikes and underpaid faculty/staff?

We'd have a new coach, stadium, etc, in short order. And those at the top could give themselves even more bonuses!

Not that this will ever happen, but a desperate fan is a creative one.
