Interesting piece by our good friend Sam Mustari about how the AD "Cronies" kept the Montana score a secret until the end of the game. He would have like to see the department let the score out. He contends it would have made the game even more exciting. I disagree and I'm glad they didn't announce the score. Some of the players did get word, but some didn't. They needed to focus on their task, not what was happening in Washington. I was checking my iPhone quit frequently and everyone else around me was too. What's your opinion? Is Sam right?

I leave it up to the coach. If coach Hill didn't want to know then you don't announce it.

A cool story.

Mustari is an idiot, he doesn't have anything to say unless it's negative on UNC. This issue belongs to BJ.

It really is a moot point. Regardless of the outcome in Cheney, we had to win Saturday's game and have to win tonight and Wednesday. Coach Hill wanted his guys to focus on the task at hand, so the decision was easy.

Maybe one of the biggest wins in our history -- because of what it COULD mean -- and The Trib throws a wet blanket on the situation. I've been around the league, and unfortunately for you all, we've got the worst hometown coverage. Sacramento State is close, but it's a different animal there.

No doubt. I'm glad he's not covering UNC anymore. He complained about everything UNC was doing, although it did give us lots to talk about over on the old proboards message board. He would have complained about either decision the AD made. He's an interesting dude.

Ask Mike Shannahan how well that works letting out the score. Mustari has always been worthless and had a bone to pick, what is he commenting on this anyway he was demoted to high school sports a few ago which is perfect for him.

Which reminds me, thank God they pulled the plug on those Q&A articles he used to do, even when he was able to edit himself in writing he still came across as an insufferable prick. :twocents:

He still sucks in his high school coverage. He has yet to learn that there is a high school on the NW side of town called Northridge. . . he'll only write articles about Greeley West and Greeley Central (wrestling). He is a miserable, negative human, and i'm being charitable.

Whoa. The comments on this thread are very disappointing and unnecessarily mean-spirited.

Sam is too much of an adult to get involved (Hi, Troy!), but know this: Sam is one of the smartest men with whom I've ever crossed paths and certainly one of the most talented journalists in the business. His knowledge and ability to maintain an objective opinion (Hi, Troy!) can't be topped.

Disagree with his opinions if you want. But to pile on ignorant cheap shot after ignorant cheap shot is disdainful. This is an exciting time to be a UNC fan (Hi, Troy!). Let's not be fools about things.

I can not disagree with you more! I've talked to the man many times, if he's one of the smartest men you know that really speaks volumes about the crowd you run in. Let me add that he is one of the most negative men i've crossed paths with.

Yeah, we saw how that went on the old board.

And I provided an objective opinion on the heels of an objective opinion from Scott. The Tribune's coverage of UNC is a source of complaint for fans & those in B-H alike. You'll note I didn't say anything about Sam. Or mention whether his topic was rooted in anything that deserved to be discussed.

If Mustari was really a good sports writer, he wouldn't have spent his entire career writing for the rag called "The Greeley Tribune". UNC's "The Mirror" writers do a better job than the Tribune.

not mention that the night he wrote is editorial, he wasn't even there for the game - i spoke to him as i left and he was just entering B-H with his brief case.

Why does he have a brief case? To hold Twinkies and cup cakes or what? Loser...
