Was just granted his release. Will explore his options. I'll have more this afternoon - message into Nate for an interview.

Sac State QB Ketteringham granted release, will transfer

Sorry to see him go. He showed a lot of potential at the UND game last year, despite needing to run for his life on most every play. UND ‘s D owned Sac’s O-line that day.

I've read a new O scheme is being implemented. So I guess KHam didnt fit in?
Good luck!

He'd be a senior under the new HC, so that has to be a contributing factor.

Heard the coaching staff asked to switch him to safety and he resisted.

I'll be honest, he had a few good games, but thought he was waaaay too inconsistent.

Or... maybe, the disaster of an O-line had just a little to do with that ... (Kniffen, Cassel) ...4 surgeries later ...

I agree. He was way too inconsistent. When he got in a rhythm he wasn't too bad, but the O line didn't give him the time he needed. The other issue I saw was that he would lock in on his initial receiver as soon as the ball was snapped. Hope he lands somewhere and does well. The next question is who's up now and can the O line get it together. It appears to be pretty much the same line as last year.

It will also be interesting to see which incoming freshmen can make an impact. I would imagine they'll redshirt the QB's but may have to use some of the RB's. There are some good ones coming in (at least in HS they were very good).

The staff brought in 2 transfer QB's this past semester and Nate barley played all spring. I am pretty sure everyone saw this coming. The O Line is the same meaning everyone returns, another year older. Kind of like the team the Hornets play week one in Idaho who was 2 win or less every season Petrino has been there except for year 4 last year in a bowl game because they played a lot of the same guys all the way through. Question is can Hornets make that kindness of jump like Idaho, Colorado and teams like that? The young excuse is no longer valid. It is time to win.

Yeah but the interesting part is that the one kid Thomson is a 2014 UNLV red shirt that had elbow surgery in 15 and did not play in 15 or 16 so his last competitive game was in high school in 2013 ... And he is the front runner .... Clapper has played the last two seasons of Modesto JC ... Wulff's call

Thomson Has received the majority of first-team reps the entire spring .. Common knowledge even in other bsc locker rooms ... Clapper is trying to keep pace...ale is not a factor... Thomson is wulff's pick ...in spite of his inexperience ... Must be a Washington connection

Or if you have watched any of the practices and or scrimmages he is clearly better

Well that would make perfect sense then...incoming freshman is the little brother of a qb the stepbrothers had at ewu

Best of luck to K-Ham. He definitely has the potential to be a solid D1 QB if that is the route he chooses. Too bad he didn’t have enough protection up front…35 sacks allowed last season…ouch.

Best of luck to Nate and thanks to u Nate for being a Sac State Hornet.

And

Looking forward to our next quarterbacks getting doing everything they can to get us ready and competitive in our 70th year as a university

Go Sac State

and

Stingers Up

Heard rumors that there is mutual interest with UND.

No guarantees, and I'm sure he will have some other opportunities, but I would certainly welcome the kid for some depth. Studsrud will be a senior, then we would have Ketteringham and former EWU QB Zimmerman to battle it out for the starting role. I'd take that for sure.
