No, the fumble was not a fumble. It was called a fumble and there was not a video angle that could prove otherwise.Waldo said:I almost feel guilty about winning that game. NAU played hard and never gave up.
A few questions:
1) Was that really a fumble? The Weber player looked down on the replay.
2) Is Weber for real this year? Or are the COVID byes messing with their preparation and momentum?
3) Why did Johnson start at QB?
4) What was up with the defense this game? I know there were some injuries, but they struggled.
Grateful for the win!
The only thing I heard about the injury was that it was an injury to his left wrist. I didn't hear broken in any of the conversation. We probably won't hear much about when he will be back. We certainly didn't hear anything about when it happened, just 'in practice'. We haven't heard anything about when any of the defensive players will be back either. I don't think there is much that a coach can legally say about a players injuries or health. There are laws about that sort of thing. I don't expect to hear much. Next man up.baller said:QB is not ready to do the job at this level yet. Some of that has to do with the time off. He will get better as he continues to get some game time. Does anyone know when Barron will return. We need him. Randall is not a quick processor of things during a play. I have never seen any QB as hesitant to throw the ball as he was. Thank God he can run it because he isn't going to win any games with his passing until he improves dramatically. I think fast thinking and quick responses are natural for a good QB. Randall doesn't have either. He can get better at these things if he is properly coached. That means the QB coach has got to spend some time with him after practices and run him thru the plays over and over that he will be expected to execute during the game. Again, he can get better, but I doubt that he has these skills naturally and thus will never be great at it. Did anyone else notice that he never looked beyond the first option. Later in the game the coaches did not ask him to look down field. His throws were limited to quick outs with the exception of the final Hail Mary, which is another version of the don't have to think or pick out a receiver beyond the primary one. Future game plans with Randall at QB has to focus on passes that are almost automatic with a quick throw to a specified receiver or area. Even those passes require correct timing, but not to the degree that downfield passes involving multiple options do. Josh Davis was a man on that field today. We would not have even been close without what he brought to the field. As someone else mentioned, it does seem like there were a lot of 2-deep players not playing today. Injuries I suppose. Jay doesn't even bother to tell for each game what the 2 deep is. I suppose he is trying to not let the competition know exactly who will be playing in the game. Did anyone know that Bronson Barron had broken his hand before he did not take the field today?
