Last night was a blast. Crowd wasn't as big as I expected but school was out, the average Arizonan's aversion to letting a raindrop land on them came into play and many a U of A fans prior dismissal of NAU being a legit threat. That certainly wasn't the case.
U of A definitely had the more talented (quicker, bigger, better hops) group but til the end of the second half, NAU had the better (meaning playing cohesively as a unit) team. I have a feeling that this Lumberjacks team can do something this season. Talked to a few boosters behind NAU's bench. Good to see NAU students scattered through the crowd last night. Was that a handful of Jack Packers I saw taking pictures courtside early on and sitting in the upper deck during the game?
Frustrated to lose given the competition and the circumstances but I'm far from let down after that game. Fun night, Lumberjacks team and supporters. Look out Big Sky Conference.
I'll admit I do have one concern. If NAU doesn't watch out, U of A may take the "ASU" men's basketball route and not invite us over to play anymore.
