Ryan Richardson, 6'5" shooting guard from Mesa, AZ is reported to have committed to Weber State.

Richard Obert, Sportswriter for the ARizona REpublic tweeted this morning: Dobson senior guard Ryan Richardson commits to Weber State for basketball

This kid looks like a great pick up. I think he has BSC 1-team capabilities as he matures. Found this highlight reel of him. He can hit from downtown as a spot up shooter or on the move. I like his floater and slashing too.. :-D

I just watched the same video and thought, what a great get. I think some teams really missed the boat on this one. He has a great game inside and out. With some WSU player development, he is going to be a force in the Sky.

AWESOME!!

Solid addition for the Cats. As a Jr. Richardson was 75/153 for 49% from 3pt land being 156/285 overall for 55% from the field. He has a really nice shot. He averaged 16.9 PPG and 4RPG. He is a shooter who can create his own shot and does a really good job of running the floor.

He was being courted by UTAH STATE, Fullerton, Portland, NAU, Denver, Wyoming, San Fran, and Davis

Best thing about Richardson is that he could be 6-6 or 6-4... lol

Three scholies are down...Van Pelt, Braxton, and now Richardson. Gotta keep a pipeline to the bay? Two to go. If it were up to me, I'd like to see Omar Sherman and Corey Henderson Jr. sign up to be Cats too. Maybe either Jerome Segura or Gabe Vincent too. Can't get too greedy though.

For now, Omar and a quality point guard to replace Jordan Richardson in 2014/15 are tops on the agenda. I have seen highlights on a couple of the PGs on the list. There are a few of them that can fill our needs. I think I like Trevon Evans game the best. He seems to be the complete package. He does a little bit of everything. I know that there are several other BSC, MWC, and other teams after him. I just don't want to see him end up playing against us for four years. He seems like our kind of guy. For his sake and ours too, lets sign him up. :thumb: :thumb:

This years recruiting has a whole new feel to it. I think that we may have a point guard commitment before school starts. I'd be more surprised if we don't. There seem to be more players interested in joining our team than we have scholarships for. Actually, Ryan Richardson, by his stats, seems to have good ball skills. He could probably play a little PG if needed.

PG commitment? Who would that PG be? Last time I spoke to one of the coaches, he said they were mostly interested in a combo/wing guys more than PG's, but it would be good to get a solid combo guard.

Our forum's address has changed. Take every moment to remind the administrator of Weberhoops to change the link on the sites page to....http://www.bigskyfans.com/wildcats/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think we filled the combo guard needs with Ryan Richardson. This year we have Jordan and Jeremy as point guards. Gelaun will be used, almost exclusively, as a wing or 2 guard. After this year, all we have left is Senglin until McKay gets back from his mission in two years. If we bring in a combo guard it will be a 1-2 and not a 2-3. I really don't know who their #1 is for that scholarship. I, personally, like Trevon Evans. I think we all know who our #1 for the other scholarship is, Omar Sherman. :thumb: :thumb:

Have you checked our Gabe Vincent or Corey Henderson? I do agree...I'm pretty sure the coaches are looking for a 1-2...Trevon Evans is a good looking player though.

Come to WEBER OMAR!!

Yes, I think either of those two would be good gets as well. I'm sure that the coaches know a lot more about these guys than I do. I've noticed that Utah State is going after a lot of the same guys as us. They seem to have the upper hand on in state kids, but it looks like a 50/50 deal everywhere else. Like Damian, Trevon seems to have a chip on his shoulder due to the big boys in his area not going after him. The kid is quick, bouncy, and can shoot the lights out from all areas on the floor. These other two are a little bit bigger and are highly skilled as well. I think it will come down to who we can get and who the coaches feel has the best fit to our program. It could end up being non of the above. If that happens, I think they will start looking at the JCs because they will need a second point guard that year.

I just watched this highlight video of Ryan. I was very impressed. Im guessing he will play the SF mostly for us. He has great ball handling and could play the 1 2 or 3 positions I think. Kind of like Berry. He does need to put some muscle on his frame like lots of guys coming out of high school, but dang I think we got a great one here. He has major range from deep and a great mid range game too. He seems to be a solid person off the court too. Between him and Braxton our 2014 class is looking excellent. :rockon:

It is a great class, so far. I think that it will only get better from here. I'm excited about the progress we seem to make each year. This staff is doing an outstanding job! :thumb: :thumb:
