New 6,000 seat arena for Sac State!

Yesterday, a vote finalized a fee increase to build the arena/events center Sac State students voted for in 2004. When the bubble burst it delayed the project as funding dried up. However, in 2014 construction will officially begin on a state of the art facility that will surely be the toast of the Big Sky... Watch out Dee and Dahlberg!!! Now, if we could improve the product on the court.... :)

That is outstanding news! That now makes two BSC programs making an upgrade. Those investments will surely pay off in the future. Those programs and the BSC improves with every investment.

Way to go! :thumb: :thumb:

Very cool!! So sweet for Sac! Kadeezy, do you have any designs available and also, where on campus will it be located?

Don't get me wrong, it's a very much needed improvement, and 5X the current capacity. This means more season ticket revenue and the visiting fans will have seats. I'm all for it. But,

C'mon man.

Great news! It is badly needed. The current capacity is the only reason its the worst in the sky. There are other bad arenas.

Where will the new nest be built? Any pics?

PSU may have the best big sky arena soon based on the concept pics I have seen. I wonder if weber was to build a new place if it might be 7k or 8k capacity...

Sac should have a huge boost in recruiting soon.

Good for them. Their current gym is a sad state of affairs. With Portland State's new venue coming, plus this, the Big Sky is starting to weed out the high school-esque gyms. :thumb:

I didn't necessarily mean to imply that it would be a better facility than the Dee events center. I'm sorry if it came off that way. I just meant that the addition of a 6,000 seat arena (that'll be 4 decades newer than the Dee) should be great for the Big Sky and put Sac in the discussion as a top facility in the west as opposed to the embarassment we play in now.

The facility will be adjacent to our new WELL center and will likely include a movie theater, bowling alley, and a new parking garage... Plans should be available to the public soon with groundbreaking scheduled for 2014, with an opening scheduled for the 2017-18 season.
