Found out yesterday via text that Coach Sears was asking the players to introduce themselves to the new DFO...Ryan Smaha, he was a GA at Wazzu under Sears and then to Western Oregon, Idaho State and Weber State.
Basically looks like he will be replacing Jeff Shuman's role....
In case you were wondering what the DFO does
* Coordinates and implements all team travel.
* Supervising game day coordination during home games.
* Following up with all assistant football coaches in the implementation and follow through of all academic policies.
* Following-up with assistant football coaches in securing attendance of student-athletes at all mandatory meetings.
* Coordinating with the head coach, assistant coaches and student-athletes in community service opportunities and appearances.
* Coordinating pre-season/summer training (including meals, housing, etc.)
* Coordinating recruiting weekends.
* Supervising all coordination with professional scouts.
