Would have been a great surprise for us as the new OC, but has landed at San Diego State. Great move for them.

I wonder if Mouse's foundational offensive scheme (now set in place) and Al Borge's extensive collection of offensive options are compatible for interfacing with one another. I somehow think they are. I just hope we continue to keep him in mind. He could be a great successor for when Jerry has things in order and chugging smoothly along--unless, of course, he wants to set-the-table for his becoming a "longevity coach" à la Joe Paterno.

BTW, I wonder who is it Jerry has in mind to take over the Offense? I wonder when the unveiling of Mouse's steward-successor will be? Quite a mystery waiting for this particular news event. Speculation does not come easy.

John Canzano, on KGW last night, let slip that PSU was or is going to interview Robin Pflugrad for the position.

Canzano also mentioned (or perhaps was propping up) Willamette HC Mark Speckman for the position, calling his offense the most innovative in Oregon.

Of course, Canzano's track record... bah!

Pflugrad could bring his son with. :-)

I think it would be a good move for Pflugrad. He could do a couple of years as OC and then slip into the HC position when Jerry leaves for retirement or another job.

I think Pflugrad would be huge hire for the Viks:

Portland State:

Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that Willamette HC Mark Speckman has met with Head Coach Jerry Glanville for the position vacated by
Mouse Davis. Also, as we reported on June 4, former Oregon Assistant Robin Pflugrad has met with Head Coach Jerry Glanville in
regards to replacing Mouse Davis at PSU. He is a Portland State graduate and was let go by UO when Chip Kelly took over the program.
Sources tell us Pflugrad is the most likely replacement and we will have the report soon!

Applications to run PSU offense are stacking up

I agree with JG about not being held hostage by a position. If all he was asking of Mouse was that he be flexible with the offense when injuries required it, then I can't view that as JG meddling with the OC role.

As of July 7th, according to this site:

http://www.footballcoachscoop.com/Scoop.html

Portland State:

Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that Offensive Line coach Jim Craft and Wide Receiver coach Kevin Strasser have expressed interest in
succeeding Mouse Davis as Offensive Coordinator. FootballCoachScoop has been told Robin Pflugrad and Willamette HC Mark
Speckman have met with Head Coach Jerry Glanville for the position of Offensive Coordinator as we reported on June 17. Pflugrad is the
one Glanville continues to be focused on to join the staff.

Does this mean Craft is going to be the new OC?

Portland State: We are hearing Portland State could be close to hiring a new offensive line coach with Big 12 playing experience and ACC coaching experience.

What about Pasucua? Didn't he share the role of offensive line coach? I can't see us bringing in a guy from UNC (albeit a grad position) to share duties. Eh, just rumors anyways...

Again, is this a budget driven move?

I would say that it is partially. I would have liked to see Pflugrad hired but he probably wanted more $$. I thought that he might have taken the position thinking that he would be next in line for HC job when Glanville eventually retires or leaves.

I too was pulling for Pflugrad considering his connection to PSU, recruiting experience/connections and overall resume. Also, I would like to see PSU's offense evolve to a spread, and he had been around Oregon's for three years. I hope this unconventional arrangement works.

Of course. Having a successor with the same last name as Mouse, they will save a ton of money. Think of all the name tags they can keep using.

Okay, that was a lame one. Is anything known about why Brad Davis is leaving NC after only one year?

Seems to me that we're looking at this:

Offensive Run Game Coordinator + Offensive Pass Game Coordinator = JG calls all of the offensive plays.
Can't move the ball on the ground, JG goes and yells at Craft.
Can't move the ball in the air, JG goes and yells at Strasser.

I like the Davis hire. He's had his success on the field, and had his foot in the door at two FBS programs as a graduate assistant.

He left NC after one year because he was a grad assistant there. He's full-time here at PSU.

More detail from the Big Oh.
