New Offensive Line Coach?

Brian Natkin left for Texas to be closer to family so it left the staff short handed for the high school team camps. I heard we have a new coach already. Does anyone know the details?

First I have heard of this. I don't like seeing so much turnover on the staff. Consistency leads to championships. Remember back to Joe Glenn's staff - you never saw any turnover. Over half of the current coaching staff changed this year I would bet (although I am glad to see a new offensive coordinator :D ).

Yes. Brian Natkin left to be closer to his family, that is true. The New offensive line coach will be Dennis Darnell the offensive Coordinator. They have hired a Quarterback Coach, though who it is, i don't presently feel privileged enough to say.

So is Darnell still going to call the plays? I was impressed with what he was doing in the spring.

Yes he is. He'll be the O-line coach and the offensive coordinator

c'mon 74, let's hear who this mysterious coach is. Is it someone Bear fans are familiar with? Like Phenious is thinking? Corte or Tom Beck??

Not cool 74 - you can't dangle a carrot like that out there. This forum is about the only insight to the team there is. We're counting on you to give us the scoop here.

Pete Darnell is our new qb coach according to footballscoop.com.

Never heard of him.

I think it will be good to just have someone focus on coaching the QB's. If he's a good coach it will only benifit the program. I don't know how he's going to coach Braezaele how to not throw interceptions and if he does, call him a miracle worker.

Yeah, good point. Is that chick that taught Helen Keller how to talk available?

lol. I'll give Downing credit for bringing someone in though to work with the qb's. I guess I shouldn't just pick on Dominick, he hasn't been given the starting job yet. If he can just be smart with the football and learn to read defenses, be a better leader, show up on time for workouts, lift with the team, etc. Then we might have ourselves a QB.

So you're saying he doesn't show up on time or work out with the team and isn't much of a leader?

If so, let's move on, he isn't good enough to pull the prima donna crap.

After what I saw last year out of him I'd only feel comfortable with him starting again if we had heard about how hard he was working, how great a guy he was, etc. etc. But if not I'd rather take our chances with the transfer or the true Freshman.

Pete Darnell is Dennis Darnell's son. He was the QB Coach for D.Darnell at his previous school as well, having met him he's a pretty cool guy, don't know how he's going to be as a coach yet.

That about sums up Dominick, at least last year. He didn't show up on time for a lot of of season seven on seven stuff, lifting, and was pretty lazy. From my sources that played on last years team. Maybe things will be different last year, but he didn't exactly personafy a leader.
