• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

They went full woke on this selection. I just hope he loves sports too. Dude is a regular on Dr. Phil…. Hmmmm

These posts are embarrassing "they've gone full woke"

So you think what he's saying isn't what happened in our country?

You think critical race theory is being taught in schools?

I applaud the Board of Trustees on an amazing selection to lead our University forward.

Aside from whatever his political beliefs are, coming from both ASU and SDSU, he's been around some solid athletic department on the west coast. Hopefully he brings some of that here and helps to carry on Pres. Nelson's legacy. Hoping for the best.

I don't know enough about him to claim that this is a "woke" selection. I'm not even sure I've ever seen a reliable definition of what "woke" is, other than not extreme alt-right.

I will say this, though. A guy having Danny White University in his background isn't necessarily a bad thing. For one, the best male quarterback-punter I've ever seen came from there. For another, the outstanding new President at UOP came from there, and he's not doing anything that would be considered extreme left...at least that wasn't already going on at UOP before he got there. And he's a huge supporter of athletics. The celebration of the entrance of Tom Flores into the Pro Football Hall of Fame a few years back just after he got there was amazing. Politics aside, if this new Sac State President supports both academics (the mission of any institution of higher learning) and athletics (an outstanding support for the academic mission, if only academic supporters can see that), then he will be a good President, indeed.

For what it's worth, I've heard from several people at the university that the new pres is BIG into athletics and especially taking things next level.

My number one concern. I think he was ASI president when I was in school, and his brother was vice. I’m sure he remembers the RWEC bait and switch well…

I hope and pray that the new President will provide a great experience for athletes and students and build a basketball / volleyball etc. arena seating for 5K students,

Students being cheap shortchange themselves and the future generations of Hornets with 1950’s facilities.

A modest upgrade initially to Hornet Stadium would also be excellent. A legit food court, beer garden, and quality restrooms & Sound system would make a nice impact to improve the experience.

YES… I want to upgrade into the MWC where we belong.

I wish I had a screenshot because our new President had a social media freak out over a Supreme Court decision, wrote a long diatribe advocating for black students over all other races and stressed the importance of Critical Race Theory in schools.

He went on the scrub all his socials of the rant.

University President is not a political office, and this guy has no filter. He won’t last three years.

Well, he softened it up a bit and reposted this afternoon - still the wrong approach. Graduate kids and improve the campus and experience.

And we lost Steve Perez to Chico State. He was a staunch athletics advocate and likely was the #2 to Dr. Wood.

Congrats to President Wood. I hope he does well here and continues to elevate the university like Gonzo and Nelsen did during their tenure.

It was always going to be a wokenista hire, but at least it's a male alum wokenista hire. Interesting that he met his now wife in the Nest. He gets himself a statue on campus if he gets an events center built.

It's concerning that he's only been in executive leadership since 2020, but it was on the premier campus in the CSU system with a front row seat on a lot of capital projects. Hopefully he learned how to get things built/done and it can translate into meeting facility needs here (not holding my breath though).

The reality is Hornet athletics has never been stronger and more robust than it currently is. Nelsen and Orr have really put athletics on the map and invested into programs that resulted in solid coaching hires. The only thing that can derail athletics is if funding is pulled/redirected or outright incompetence.
