New Staff?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could get this news of coaching changes along with any other football related news on the Hornetsports website....

Sac has always been cloak & dagger reporting of events kind of place top to bottom. Usually smoke & mirrors too.

But then again the SID's are pumping out press releases on just about every event. Same reason the roster page isnt updated. Until Spring ball officially starts the dept has football in the cooler.

You know things are going under when the staff starts bailing for HS positions…right as spring camp is kicking off…

With a new AD soon to come on board coupled with the embarrassing performance of this program, Almond took a proactive approach and found a new job before the axe fell…smart move. Of the poor defensive performances in recent years, the LBs always seemed to have a standout player.

I dont blame him one bit. Without a 7-4 season minimal, I am hoping this Sears store closes down.
Plus, with a new AD, they will definately want change as they dont want this stink on their watch.

Bring Angus McClure in and stop the non-sense.

He might need a job if UCLA doesn't do far better than last year. That type of performance don't play well in LA especially with the reemergence of USC.

I wouldn't even mind if Johnny O came back. He's had great success at AR and he knows a lot of coaches he could bring in. And we could afford him...

Let's hope the new AD is 'Championship' driven ... I got the feeling last year that no matter what UC Davis did, Gould was gone...that AD want's to win, big...fear here is a decent win/loss season, with a schedule that is free of two guaranteed losses (Montana, and Montana State on the road) and very favorable at home, will enable these jokers to get an extension ...new AD has to go big, no matter what, period

I had the same fear that a 4+ win season would get these clowns an extension with Macriss making the decision. Now that a new AD is coming on board, Sears/Wulff will need to have a magical season to have any hope of being retained…like BSC title/deep playoff run type of magical. Football drives the bus and the new AD is going to want to put his thumb print on athletics with “his guy” being at the helm of FB.

To me 7 wins gets exstention. 7 wins gets playoffs. I would of said two years ago Montana state and Montana off schedule would be good, but they have North Dakota and EWU Co Big sky Champs. Idaho is certainly better then Fresno was last year. Weber and Cal Poly were the other Big Sky Playoff teams and NAU will have their QB returning. Schedule is tougher then you think. Also if they win 7 Games then Sears is the right guy for the job to me.

Good points... I agree that a 7 win season, especially if there is a major upset along the way, will make it difficult for the new AD to make the change...the dreaded what if is a 5 or 6 win season ... That's where the new AD has to go big ... Not the time to get away with 'improvement' ... I hope the AD's mind is made up from the start with only something miraculous possible to change the mind ... Funny thing about sdhornet's fear of the 4 win extension .. I agree completely, that might have earned a one-year extension, but they forfeited two games (weber and n. Colorado) that were wins 3 and 4 ...

The new AD will be tasked with engaging the community to get butts in seats and money in the coffers to get facilities built. Retaining a coach that has returned Hornet football to laughingstock status resulting in reduced attendance does not fit within that vision.

Always have hope. Volek had 2 1-10 seasons. In first 3 years. Also don't want to hear cause of the Big Sky transition. Many very similar opponents from the previous years. Mattos is obviously the only coach to have great success.

So you are saying we have hope of being good after a shitty season

This is Joe Football you are talking about. What he has hope for is that Massari is hired as AD who then hires on Angus as HC. To be honest, it is not that far fetched of an idea if Massari is given the nod...
