Dan Hawkins, UCD alum, interviewed and supposedly was offered, by he declined it.
Kevin Daft, asst. coach at Cal and dungpile alum too.

Mike Moroski was also said to have been a candidate. Moroski also applied at Sac the last two times the HC job was open. Gould has never been a HC or OC before and aside from a brief stint with Portland State has spent his whole career as a FBS assistant. It will be interesting to see if he can make the transition. It is also interesting that Dykes didn't retain him at Cal if he is such a good RB coach and recruiter as claimed or that he
didn't get any FBS offers. My guess is that if he has any success he will be gone back to the bright lights of a FBS school within 3 seasons. if unsuccessful the Dungpilers will keep him for far too long rather than admit the ADs first big hire was a mistake. As always I wish Gould and the Dungpilers all the worst!
