Next Season? Who will be back? What will we look like?

Now that this Dumpster Fire of a season is over :wall: , Last nights game was a great effort and all, but kind of how its been all year for us. We have glimpses of greatness, then we look like a bunch of sissy girls out there. I'm looking at this season as a learning experience for the players and coaches. I think we will contend next year. If Harvey from EWU comes back, then it will be a 3 team race between Weber State, Montana and EWU.

Who will be back and who will be gone? I have a feeling and this is just my gut feeling. I have been wrong before and right before. I think we will see 3 scholarship players gone. I have been back and forth as to who all season, but if I had to guess this is what I think. I'm sure they are great guys, but this is D1 college basketball.
Van Pelt. He has not played all year. Would not be surprised if he ends up at Dixie
Coston. He seem like a great guy and teammate, but he is too small for PF and not good enough for SF. He really should be in a D11 program.
Hunter. This one was tough because I think he does some things very well, but he cant shoot worth spit. I'm sure I could beat him in a 3 point contest and that's not saying much. With Senglin being a stud, and Jefferson coming off a redshirt and Cannon coming off his mission, I think Hunter will be the odd man out. I have a good feeling about Cannon. I didn't realize how highly recruited he was. We beat out lots of teams to get him. I loved watching his SR highlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Yns2vxvYcs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So if I'm right then that puts us at 13 scholarship players for next year.
Bolomboy SR
Golden SR
Gittens JR
Senglin JR
Hill JR
Baker SO ( I'm assuming we get him from JC. )
Richardson SO
Braxton FR
Jefferson FR
Cannon FR
Dallas FR
Williams FR
Nzekwesi FR

It's going to be an interesting off season.

Im excided to see what this group will do. We may lose one or two but if they can stick together and play 3 or even 4 yrs at weber, by their senior yr, watch out!

I'm not so sure that Golden will be back either. I wouldn't doubt that another guy signs this spring, along with Dusty Baker (by the way...Dusty is going to be a great pickup, when it finally happens).

Cody John? Is that the other guy? I would love to have both Dusty and Cody, but who gets cut if both come in? I just don't want Cody to end up at either Montana or Southern Utah.
He has offers from: Weber State, Montana, Niagara, Colorado, Southern Utah, St. Bonnie, and Iona.

@BGarsideSE: Just had a great conversation with Coach Rahe about the season and the future. Story coming later this week. #BigSkyMBB #WeAreWeber #WeberSE

I would usually be very excited to know, but feel that Rahe controlled the interview. Hopefully the story provides some insight into his plans for next season!

Does Rahe have his end of the season meeting with the players this week or next week? Looks like a lot of players around the country are transferring and there are some good players available.

I heard that we offered Baker.... Any other possibilities? Seems like we could use more bigs!

We have two bigs coming in for next year, Jordan Dallas and Emmanuel Nzekwesi. We also have our red shirt big man Zack Braxton who has the potential to be a game changer next year. Basically, we lose one big man, James Hajek, and we are adding three. That should help to solve some of the problems we experienced this year. Although, all three have no D1 experience other than Braxton's full season of practice with us. We are bringing in a point guard, McKay Cannon, and a wing player, Juwan Williams. Both of those men will be freshmen but will compete for playing time. There is also a chance that additional players could be brought in over the next 4 weeks or so.

I believe that there is a plan to correct all of the issues we experienced this year. I am totally behind what our coaches are trying to do. :thumb:

The team will look great next year, and years to come,if Brad Underwood is the New Wildcat coach in the Dee center.

I'm pretty sure that Brad will be getting quite the raise this off-season. A lot more cash than what Weber State could afford to pay him. Besides, as much as you hate Coach Rahe, Weber, currently, isn't looking for a new head coach.

Haha! Dream one! Underwood is already making $200K a year coaching a better program in a much better conference.

Dream one?? What does that even mean.

Please re-read the first two sentences again. I'm starting to worry about you 02, your reading comprehension is really starting to slip. Are you okay? I was inferring that Underwood will be getting snatched up by a bigger program at the end of the season.

No matter...Weber still isn't looking to replace our coach. Didn't you also want Mac replaced?? Look how that worked out. :ohno:

Relax tal, I was talking to rusty. Underwood to Weber is a pipe dream.

Although I'm not Rahe's biggest fan, I haven't ever said he should be fired after one bad season. But if he has two bad seasons in a row, he should be "let go".

I felt the football program had reached its peak with McBride and although I was a McBride fan and I appreciated him, i felt the time was right for a change. It was Bovee and his misguided hiring of Satan that wrecked the football program.

Rahe will make the adjustments needed to get the team back to being title contenders! I'm confident of that..... It's going to require some changes and we'll see players come and go, but in the end, Weber will return to its previous winning ways.

I'm almost embarrassed with how quickly we (including me) turned against our coach! He deserves better from all of us. He's a winner, but underestimated this seasons team. We have the talent and with some changes we'll be competitive. This might end up being the season the program needed to wake up! The next couple of months are going to be tough, let's be careful in second guessing the program. I think the next 4 years look very positive!
