I think it's fair to say that we're all looking forward to 2028. Facilities improvements and hopefully a new head coach.
Good point. 2028 is a good year for a reset with the completion of Phase 2 of the stadium upgrade.I think it's fair to say that we're all looking forward to 2028. Facilities improvements and hopefully a new head coach.
I think most of us can separate the man from his record. I like him personally and think his contributions to the program and school are immeasurable, but just think the job has really taken a toll on the man. Some of y'all gonna have to choose between Best and a winning football program cause you ain't getting both Best made sure of that

Yup.And I think you can think Best is a great guy, be friends with him and acknowledge he isn't cutting it. Few jobs have something as concrete as a win/loss ratio lol
If Baldwin came back and wanted to keep him on as oline coach I'd be fine with that, assuming his ego can take the hit.
We are in agreement. And I think you can think Best is a great guy, be friends with him and acknowledge he isn't cutting it. Few jobs have something as concrete as a win/loss ratio lol

Zero reason to think otherwise.I suspect MSU will just do what every other team does to us, which is run the ball.
I'd love to see it, but in my opinion there's a 0.0% chance Baldwin comes back to Cheney. For one, he has health problems and hasn't coached in like 2 years. His last stint was in the CFL.And I think you can think Best is a great guy, be friends with him and acknowledge he isn't cutting it. Few jobs have something as concrete as a win/loss ratio lol

Bobby Hauck came back from an unsuccessful stint in the FBS and had Montana back in the playoffs the next season so it has been done. Cal Poly has academic recruiting restrictions that Eastern doesn't.I'd love to see it, but in my opinion there's a 0.0% chance Baldwin comes back to Cheney. There are also legitimate questions as to whether he'd even be up to the task, his health issues notwithstanding. His last head coaching job was at Cal Poly, where he had an abysmal record, and his stints at Cal and ASU were very lackluster.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge BB fan, but it seems like whatever advantages he had at EWU in terms of strategy/talent/recruiting didn't cross over to his other experiences.
Could he overcome his post-EWU failures and do good things if he can back? Maybe. Would he be interested? Who knows. The human factor also matters, and I doubt he'd even consider head coaching anywhere again if there were doubts about his ability to stay the course and do the job to the best of his abilities.
I'd personally like to see us bring in a young guy who has ties to the PNW and can really recruit the I-5 corridor to its fullest potential. We have lost a lot of guys to Idaho, Montana, MSU, and even PSU in the past few years that I think we would have gotten in previous years.
He has played well, which is notable considering how banged up we’ve been at receiver and running back. He makes mistakes, sure, but in my opinion he’s a lot better than he was last season. Worth mentioning is that most of the improvement has come in his passing game. MSU can spy him and maybe that will work, but they can’t count out the fact that he’s a lot better throwing the ball this year.Lost in this discussion is how great a season Nate Bell is having. I'll have to admit that I've been a skeptic, but he's really one of the only bright spots on this year's team. MSU most likely tries to spy him, but I don't think running the ball is EWU's best option to make this game competitive, especially considering MSU only allows 3.7 yards per rush. We'll have to hope that the offensive line can give Bell enough time to find his receivers, which is a big question mark after how poorly they played last week.
