After a bye week and wearing the black/white combo. For the second time in as many years, our Cats laid an egg. Doesn't seem like a winning scenario to me. Yet, I really wasn't confident the Cats would end up with a W after NAU's curb-stomping in Poky. NAU knew they needed a win, much like we now need a win. After the loss, I started looking at the schedule to see how many possible wins the Cats could get. Beating Eastern is around 30%. Homecoming, coming off a loss, and playing at home gives us another 10%. MSU is around 60% (home team gets the edge), UND -- toss up, SAC, if the weather is bad 75%, if not, 60% (like the MSU games, home team gets the edge). SUU 60% (T-Birds would love nothing more than to upset our chances), and against ISU, right now, we are major underdogs. Weber has to get Four wins to be in a position to get an at large bid. Of course, five would be better. Meaning Weber has to protect its home field and get a win, or two, on the road. Against NAU, we can't really blame the team. The boys really fought but just came up short. Gotta wonder if the refs wouldn't have screwed up on the Collins pick, what the final score would have been. The Big Sky should censure that crew. But, it is what it is. Gotta take the good with the bad. On offense, I think both QBs are trying too hard. They are trying to beat the other and aren't really competing against opposing teams, but merely trying to outplay the other guy. This isn't a good situation. Neither has shown leadership, poise, the ability to manage a drive, or read a defense. Without a competent QB, the offense, no matter how talented, will only be okay. Final thought, the play calling has been very vanilla and too predictable. That is on the OC. We know Schramm knows his stuff and I still have faith in him, but he has to let up a bit. He is holding on waaaay too tight right now. He needs to remember to have some fun and enjoy where he is now. Thats my observation anyway.
