Ms Kennedy and the athletic department did a great job with signing day. I loved the live blog! Bravo!!

I liked the live blogging from the press conference too. Coach Collins has set the bar high with these Bears. He has a great passion for this program! Let's all give support to him...err....more B and Gold money so he can be successful. Lets fill the stands at Nottingham. Let's get back to our winning ways.

Kudos to Heather and the entire athletic staff!! I really think the live blog was a great start with raising the bar around here and instigating some Bear Fever !! Keep up the momentum!!! Go Bears!

They have the bios up now as well:

Well done to everyone at UNC.

Definitely like the blog as well, and I'm also like what I'm hearing about the new staff. They seem to be pushing these kids harder, and being more strict with them, which I like.

i agree, thats was really cool yesterday. thank you again heather. maybe they should hire her as the football secretary, lol.....

one thing i heard yesterday multilple time from coach collins, and from some of his coaches as told to players,
"WE ALL SACRAFICED TO COME HERE"
help me here guys, wtf does that mean, they had to sacrafice? why would you ever make that statement? especially in a public format?
i'm sorry to not sound supportive, but, i want my coaches to be as happy as hell to be here! it sounds like a early inventory of excuses for our program........
one thing is apparent, they went cheap-o again! nice job jay and kay.........
and since i won't get my sect., can i get a dedicated oline and a o.c.? we have less coaches on staff now than a year ago.
again, help me here. how does this make us better? the sky is game on every saturday! and preperation with the proper people for the student athelete's is critical.
bottom line, the powers to be are still stuck in a d2 mentality.........

Mrlippy - it seems you're missing something here. I don't think any of those coaches wouldn't be here if they didn't want to be here. They could have stayed at Alcorn. However, you're correct in that we won't compete with the top of the conference until we increase our budget and get more and better coaches. I do think Jay could do a better job with fundraising. And if Jack Maughen wasn't drunk all the time, I'm sure that would help too. This is what we have to work with and all WE can do is do our part and donate to the B and Gold fund and attend games. If we do that, things will improve. No one is going to win cheap (well...maybe Eastern Washington. I'm pretty sure they don't have that much of a bigger budget).

Mrlippy, don't take that the wrong way. I think they were trying to make a point that they made the right choice and worked hard to all get here and put it all together in a short amount of time and that they expect the players to make sacrifices also in order to win!! I believe they are all on the same page and want to make this a winning program. Yea I also think we could do a better job with marketing UNC

The coaching staff has made it clear that they want to be here. I'm sure they will hire more coaches in due time. It's quality over quantity, the quality of these coaches is far better than on Downing's staff. They made sacrifices as in they had to move, leave family behind, and so on. I don't think it means money, because if that was the case then Collins would have stayed at Alcorn.

Also as far as going cheap-o again, not only can you thank Jay and Kay, but you can thank Downing as well. Not only did he run our program into the ground, but lost a lot support during his era.

Reading the comments from Collins makes me proud to be a Bear again. He has such a different perspective on things then Scott. He's tough dude, he won't settle for losing. I wasn't expecting much from this years recruiting class but looks good (on paper anyways). Just wait until we have a full season for recruiting. I'm not sure what my expectations are for next season is, and that's probably for another thread, but we're on the right track.

The biggest difference between Eastern Washington and Northern Colorado is that the Eagles KNOW how to win and we are still trying to figure how to win at UNC. As someone who supports both programs the talent is not that much different between the Bears and Eagles.

That's actually really good news if it's true. The new coaching staff may be the ticket to build a program that finds ways to win games instead of finding new ans amazing ways to lose.
