Nice win!

This sucks! Now Hinrichs will use this as justification to give that shitbag another year contract!

I was kind of thinking the same thing. God help us if we win out and we sign Downing to a 2 year extension.

This is a good sign the players didn't quit on their coach. This is the first time we've won multiple conference games in years, even before Downing. The Old Man was 0 for his last year and that's when we were in the poor Great West.

Yeah it's going to get weird, so we retain him and if so then he must have done the absolute bare minimum to retain his job so we have a coach that over 5 years has done the minimum to have his job which really, really, sucks.

And to top it off if so and this win is the reason he retains his job how ironic is it that the difference in winning was a hail mary... yes not at the end of the game but at the end of the first half and that point difference was why we won none the less.

I'm happy to win and I'm happy for the seniors but still this one lucky win can't undo 5 years of choking but I'm afraid in the eyes of Hinrichs it will... and if so look forward to decades of 2 or 3 wins and acting like we're "building."

Downing may be a ("good" ?) manager of a football staff but he's not a game day coach. What if he had tried to run some plays with 48 seconds left in reg. at Weber? (look at what the Bears were able to do with 4 seconds against Portland St.). Winning that game could have set a totally different tone for the rest of the season. Partland St. was a big win for the program but IMO it may be a case of too little too late.

You realize the season's over, right?

God, I gave up on the entire football season so no. Well, we did win out then. :P

Sign him to a 5 year extension.

Let's just celebrate a nice win on the road and thank the seniors. Downing will be gone by Monday and we can move on. I would recognize Downing and his staff for upgrading the roster with better size and class. His players take school more seriously and stay out of trouble. Let the speculation begin on who the new coach will be.

I don't think they keep him, at least they shouldn't. It wasn't much of an improvement this season from last. You have the same record 3-8, you beat a D2 team who finished 5-6, a team that finished 1-9, and a team that finished 2-8. This was a nice win, no doubt, it was nice to the guys come back from behind.

Great comeback for the win!! How can the defense play so bad in the first half and so great in the second half?? This is not the first time thats happened!

Idaho State: FootballScoop has confirmed that head coach John Zamberlin will not return as head coach.

well, lets see how fast WE react with something.......since jay is pulling the strings, i would guess we wont know/do anything until after the new year. so, our pool of players to recruit will be shot. if they fire scott and some staff. new coaches will recruit new players. if for some reason we keep scott and staff, the recruiting starts today. we should call the coaches offices and see who's in this week..........maybe shuman will break some news for us this week, he's been the only one if heard even pushing the issue, good job matt!

If Jay is going to pull the trigger he needs to do it quick, for recruiting sake. I'm surprised Shuman hasn't approached Jay about it. Last year about this time we got something like..."it's premature to talk about a contract extension" something like that. This year, nothing from the boss...yet.

Damn it, every time I see there is a new post in the football section, I hope that it's a new thread announcing that Downing was fired.
