Trubachik Takes Second at NACAC U23 Championships

MIRAMAR, Fla. - Former PSU All-American Nick Trubachik completed his third decathlon in a month today at the NACAC U23 Championships and finished second in the competition with a score of 7,497, 13 points shy of first-place finisher, Florida's Gray Horn.
Trubachik's score in the two-day competition was the second-best of his career. He scored 7,510 points at NCAA Championships en route to a seventh-place finish.
Trubachik won four-events, shot put, high jump, discus and javelin, and would also record PR's in the pole vault, 14-9, and the 1,500-meters, 4:35.84.
He nearly broke his top-mark in the 400-meters with his time of 50.62. June 12 Trubachik clocked a 50.03 in the final event of day one to start his march towards all-america status in Eugene, Ore.
Trubachik, representing Team U.S.A., competed against other athletes from Canada and Mexico in the decathlon competition. He was only one of two Americans in the competition.
The NACAC Athletic Association's U23 Championships are held every two years in one of the 32 member nations of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association, one of six regional athletics associations affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
