Currently, Weber is being projected as a 5 seed. I'm hoping, by some miracle, Weber can steal a 4 seed and get a home game on ESPN. Would be cool.

you think we can get a home game in this? for those that aren't sure if we will get in the NIT (or dont care) there is no way we dont get in. i just hope we can not be too down after the conf tourney and keep playing. i understand teams like weber n usu are so down after not making the big dance and dont care about the NIT and end up losing even when they shouldnt, totally understandable. i would like to see something different though for once. a lot of the other schools new they werent going to the NCAA tourney so they are happy to be in the NIT and bring their A game.

I dont know, Im conflicted right now, unless we can get a home game, I say no thanks to any tournament right now. Maybe a few days down the road I'd feel different, but right now I'm in the end the season mode

nit games start on tues n wed. that is in 5 days away.

I would say yes to the NIT if and only if Weber gets a home game. If they have to travel, then say no way.

maybe we can host a pac 12 team next tuesday. anyone have any interest? maybe i should have waited a few days to ask. 2-0 vs pac 12 could be pretty cool.

btw, it is an insult to the players especially the senior class to say lets turn down a bid to play more basketball in the NIT. i do understand its only the day after so everyone has the right to be pissed off after that game.

I say go no matter what. At the very least, it's a good chance to get next year's players some more game-time experience against a competitive team.

There was discussion of post-season events last year, but I believe this was mentioned in that venue: Going to the CBI and the CIT requires the teams that are invited to PAY to get in. That was how Weber's announced home game in CBI suddenly turned into a road game at Oregon....it was all about the $$ they could get from Oregon, since the Ducks did not want to go on the road. Face it, they won the thing, so home was good for them.

Not sure if there are fees for NIT or not....

Thats a good questions. I'm not sure. I don't think the NIT is a pay to get in type of tourny, but heavens who knows. As Wildcat fans, we all should know a lot about the NIT. It's become our tournament. I kid...Weber will be back in the Dance soon. At least I hope so!! :?

From other sites I have read and other things I am hearing, unlikely for Weber to be a top 4 seed. We will see how things shake out.

Yeah, I'm guessing that Weber ends up as a 6 or 7 seed. But there isn't any harm in hoping, right?

I understand that not making the NCAA's is a huge disappointment. But I think we need to start changing the 'NCAA's or bust' mindset. The Big Sky will never be a two team qualifying league. We've built as good of a case as possible this year, and we aren't even close to at-large consideration. In fact, it doesn't look like we can even get top 4 seed in the NIT.

Next year the conference expands to 11 teams and our season will almost be all league games so we will have little chance to prove ourselves with preseason play — and again, only one team will make the Big Dance, no matter what.

I think to keep building Weber's reputation, and really the basketball reputation of the Big Sky, we have to look at any post-season play as a reward for playing a good season. But we need to start winning some games instead of looking like we are just playing the season out with an extra game.

Utah pirate you are the king of great posts on here, but this one sucks...

Agreed!! 24-6   Weber deserves a home NIT game. Probably won't get it, but still they deserve it. Also, 10 years ago, we could only have dreamed of getting an invite to the NIT. Now the Cats are in a position to get one. Win a few games and extend the season as long as you can Cats.

Utah Pirate is right. Have to break through a win over several years. See Bulter, Gonzaga, etc... We had a couple of great years in the late 90's and nothing to speak of since then. No Big Sky team has consistently won in the NCAA tournament (an occasional win here or there, but nothing like the teams mentioned above). Until that happens, the Big Sky will be seen as a lower tier conference and will not get serious consideration in seeding (both in NCAA or NIT).

At Weber where the Football is watered down FCS, and basketball is highly regarded it should, and will always be NCAA or bust.

Weber has the best facilities by far.
Weber pays the Head Coach more than twice that of any other coach in the conference.
Weber has far more fan support & resources than any other school in the conference.
The fact that Weber hasn't played in the NCAA's since the '06-'07 team is ridiculous, & frustrating as a fan, all at the same time.

I don't buy season tickets, & support the Wildcats for a chance to play in the NIT.

I follow conference play intently, because i love that we have a chance to Host the Conference tournament, & move on to the NCAA's (which is the only sporting event I even care about, anymore) which builds excitement within the community, & program.

It has to be NCAA or bust, that doesn't mean i won't attend a home game in the NIT, or watch it on Espn.

Every Weber State fan should expect, and rightly so, the Wildcats to be dancin in the NCAA's every single year.

+1

WeberSki, I totally accept your viewpoint. To Dance is to live! Losing your conference championship is really emotional, a huge downer.

But, if we are going to play in another post-season tournament, we have got to learn to get up for it. Winning in the NIT will help us learn how to win during the next season, win in our own tournament, and give us some more tournament experience when we do go dancing the following year. It helps teams believe in themselves and start looking forward to the next year. I think we take these other post-season tournaments too lightly and we should play with a chip on our shoulders to prove we deserve better. Damn, we lost, let's go kick some a$$.

With an 11 team conference, getting that magical 1 spot becomes more difficult. And what do you do once you get it? Second tier post season experience is still post season experience. We need to start winning some of these second tier games, after all we keep qualifying for them — and I think winning will lead to further success. GO CATS!
