No Need to Panic

Just wanted to spark some discussion about whether you think the loss will curb possible support for the UC Davis game.

I think we can all say we were dissappointed in how things went in McNeese. I personally have accepted that it may take a few years to get the ball rolling. The team we saw last night would not make the playoffs or win the Big Sky. The loss of Bobby is crippling.

All I can do as a fan is support my team regardless if the win NOW or not. Im glad to hear others havn't loss enthusiam to go to the home opener. Ill be there rockin my seats all year win or lose because once a Vik always a Vik.

So says EXVik

I felt worse after Montana St. shut us out last year. Especially when sawyer returned and played that game and Montana St went to the playoffs and we didnt.

I do feel like support will dwindle a bit for the UC Davis game, as I predicted elsewhere. My support hasn't dwindled, because I thought MSU was a probable loss anyway. I just think people who don't understand that MSU was a good team will take this loss as a sign of underachieving. Casual sports fan will read the Oregonian and decide that JG is all hat and no cattle. The rest of us just have to stick together and reserve a seat on the bandwagon for all these people who will want tickets after PSU makes the playoffs with an 8-3 record.

Get this. In 2000, the year BEFORE Pete Carroll arrived at USC the team went 5 and 7. In 2001, Carroll's first year he was 6 and 6. A ONE game improvement.
In 2000, under then coach Paul Hacket, QB Carson Palmer playing in all 12 games passes for 3148 yards. The next year under a new coach, Pete Carroll, and a new systeml, Carson Palmer plays in all 12 games and passes for 2722 yards (426 less yards)

Then in 2002, Carson Palmer's second year in the new system the team goes 11 - 2 and Palmer thows for a career high 3942 yards. It will take time and another one or two recruiting classes at PSU to make this happen big. It's all going to be fine, even we go
.500 in wins and losses.

I did not know that about USC, Excellent point. I still believe that Glanville and Mouse can make PSU a force in FCS footballl. Also Pete Carol had to overcome outperforming the rest of the Pac-10, PSU has the big sky with maybe 2 teams with superior resources.

I think the vikes were capable of 8 - 3 before bobby got hurt. I don't know if they will be able to stomach that and make the playoffs. Only way they get the at large Bid is if they lose to Montana and SDSU and sweep the rest of the Big Sky. No easy task.

If they do I will be going crazy like every other vik fan. I wonder if Brian White starts for the UC Davis game?

Thoughts and prayers out to Bobby, knee injuries are life altering, I hope he is doing oK.

I perused the roster to see who were the running backs left if McClintock is out for any significant time (best wishes to him). Sobomehin and a freshman, Grant Schuberg, from Portland are the only running backs listed. That will create some problems unless there is another option. But I do remember last year when Ali was hurt, it gave McClintock a chance to show. I think White starts at QB because he will probably get most, if not all, reps this week. But unless the O-line is at, or near, full strength, it won't matter who is in the backfield. So, I am wondering about Carvalho's availability, and will Punzal play against UCDavis. Any information.
