Looking forward to seeing the Bears get after North Dakota this weekend. Should be a good game. Hopefully the threat of a Deggs return will make their kicker pooch kick all day like Portland State did. Nothing like great field position to go with a solid offense. Or they can just kick to him and take their chances. Their kicker only has a few touchbacks all season so it should be interesting to see what they do.
Predictions? Go Bears.

Depends on which team shows up. The one that got thrashed by NAU? No way, the one that almost beat EWU and did beat PSU? We can beat anyone in the conference.

Yep, it's the every other week pattern... win and then take all that good will and flush it down the toilet with a dog shit performance the next week... :?

The Portland St. game was awesome. A good coaching staff would be able to more consistent week to week. A review of the season reveals that we only had three good games. UC Davis, the worst team in the Big Sky. A quality win against a very good team in Portland State. And a moral victory (loss) against an above average team in EWU. Lets just hope that the powers to be will fire this staff. Boyer laid another egg.

The Portland State game was only awesome because we somehow managed to eek out a win. We set ourselves up, however to have that game end up, sadly, exactly as the EWU game. And, sadly, today showed yet again, what this coaching staff does. Leaves our best players on the sidelines or in for blocking and puts second and third string quality players in as starters. The entire lot of them deserve to be fired. When you look at the stats for the year for just our receiving corps, and see that the majority of the passes went to players who drop, bumble, have collectively caught a bumbling ridiculously low amount of passes while our best receivers are only even given a couple pass opportunities per game....we don't even show we want to win. This coach knows he is on his way out. He is putting players on the field who would never see the light of day absent the mentality of a pee wee coach who says let's let them play.

FIRE THEM NOW!!! what a joke. And a complete embarrassment for this university, the entire team, the community. Shame on Kay Norton. Shame on the AD. Shame on all of the entire university for letting this continue. They are harming not only the athletic department but the enrollment, the reputation of the university and the morale of this team for years to follow. What a disgrace! And, these kids who continue to play with heart despite what their coaches are so blatantly putting them through deserve our respect, not our harsh words. They never give up. They, not their coaches, play buzzer to buzzer. I am honored to be a bear because they go out there every week knowing their leadership will disappoint them, once again. It is not their fault their leaders have no sense of pride.

You are always complaining about which receivers are in. It seems the biggest problem is not with which receivers are in but the protection Knipp isn't getting along with a terrible defense. Both offensive and defensive lines were horrible. Our linebackers are very slow. Teams can just run all day on us. Even when we do have a good offensive performance, the defense always allows so many points. We need quicker linebackers. The whole 4/3 defense needs to change.

I agree 100%. I thought the LB's were going to be better this year. They're incredibly slow. I've been saying this for years that we will not be a good program recruiting the same type of linemen. Go get the big, tough players from small towns in the midwest. That's what the Dakota schools do and they're successful for doing it.

"the best defense is a good offense".....if our defense is constantly on the field and when we finally do get the ball, we put our second and third string players on the field instead of our best players and end up going three and out... our defense is exhausted by the second half. Again. Don't blame the players for a poorly planned strategy. They benched our top tier players or are not playing them to their abilities. So, yes, I am complaining, as should everyone. The defense does need improvement, but they are also simply exhausted for playing nearly 1.5 games in one.

To bearfan2015, I agree with your assessment of the coaches inability to play the best players. In order for a young player to get better, they must play alongside more experienced proven players. As I stated before, Boyer is playing the youth card to save his ass. I am sick and tired of hearing him say that "I am proud of how are young kids are playing and I am excited for them." I talked to Troy Cloverdale before the Portland game and he agreed that Boyer has been using the same statement since arriving at UNC. We have some awesome young players who at times performed very good, but they can't carry the team on their shoulders. Many times this season, all of the skill positions were either freshman or sophomores (other than the OL). Ultimately it is Collins fault. Did anybody else hear Collins say in his last presser that "Boyer would be a good NFL OC!"
To Beardown and Bearfan15, agreed. Again Collins is at fault for having the ONLY Non-NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist as a strength coach in the Big Sky. Not only are we consistently weaker along the front lines, but we are slower as well. An example would be Riddle. He was awesome as a freshman, but pedestrian as a soph. Dinky has no idea about periodization or the importance of being functionally progressive in pregame warm-ups.
Though all the players think Kerr is "dope", his grade this year is the same as Boyer and Collins, D+. Only Special Teams coach Cummings would get a passing grade.
I will guarantee the LOCK of the college football season. If Collins was fired before this last game (hope, hope hope), the UNC Bears would close out the season with a win. Conversely, If the AD again makes a statement that coach Collins job is secure and gives him another extension, the LOCK of the season would be a UNC loss - like last year.

It's not going to happen. Tamper your expectations about Collins getting fired. This team was picked by both the media and coaches to finish dead last, even with a weak schedule. They won't and we've got a chance to finish with the best record we've had since moving up.
