To bearfan2015, I agree with your assessment of the coaches inability to play the best players. In order for a young player to get better, they must play alongside more experienced proven players. As I stated before, Boyer is playing the youth card to save his ass. I am sick and tired of hearing him say that "I am proud of how are young kids are playing and I am excited for them." I talked to Troy Cloverdale before the Portland game and he agreed that Boyer has been using the same statement since arriving at UNC. We have some awesome young players who at times performed very good, but they can't carry the team on their shoulders. Many times this season, all of the skill positions were either freshman or sophomores (other than the OL). Ultimately it is Collins fault. Did anybody else hear Collins say in his last presser that "Boyer would be a good NFL OC!"
To Beardown and Bearfan15, agreed. Again Collins is at fault for having the ONLY
Non-NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist as a strength coach in the Big Sky. Not only are we consistently weaker along the front lines, but we are slower as well. An example would be Riddle. He was awesome as a freshman, but pedestrian as a soph. Dinky has no idea about periodization or the importance of being functionally progressive in pregame warm-ups.
Though all the players think Kerr is "dope", his grade this year is the same as Boyer and Collins, D+. Only Special Teams coach Cummings would get a passing grade.
I will guarantee the LOCK of the college football season. If Collins was fired before this last game (hope, hope hope), the UNC Bears would close out the season with a win. Conversely, If the AD again makes a statement that coach Collins job is secure and gives him another extension, the LOCK of the season would be a UNC loss - like last year.
