North Dakota

I'm happy with a split on this road trip. Defend the home court and play just over 500 on the road. That might be enough to win the regular season. interested to see how UNC does on its first road trip this coming week.
Glad to see Richardson knock down some 3s yesterday. Real happy Fulton was able to contribute. As Rahe said, Cats might not have won without Fulton's performance in the first half. It is nice to see that we have a number of players who can put up 12-15 a night.

I wasnt able to watch the game but listening to it, when UND pressed us at the end of the game Karl made it sound like we broke the press with ease. Is this true? If so what were we doing to do so because we havent done that all season. Or was UND just falling apart

I have never seen hot lava flow through Pompey. But Carl makes it sound pretty cool too.

I wonder how long Brian Jones at North Dakota can keep his job. To play 7 seniors and have the talent that he has and lose this much is crazy. North Dakota is a prime example of a team recruiting on pure talent with no thought of how the team gels as a whole. I thought UND looked better with Huff on the bench. I swear they have 4 or 5 guys the same height that are all just driving and looking for their own shot.

So far every Big Sky team we have played except Eastern has played small ball. I think it is the trend in our conference. Not sure if its due to the inability to recruit quality bigs, but we just played a team that played 5 guards

So, is it fair to say our bigs are underachiving? If so, why?

FOUL TROUBLE!!!

The return of JH will help greatly. If for no other reason than it gives us 5 more fouls to spread between our bigs. It isn't enough to just have a big in the game. They need to be able to play aggressively, or they are not very good at rebounding or defense. Plus, getting a few more minutes of rest may keep their legs fresh. :coffee:

If we're facing "small-ball" lineups, it seems we should find some success either dominating the paint or should be able to counter with a small lineup ourselves. If we could get consistent production from Fulton, that would sure help. I think he's a matchup problem for several teams if he can play hard. Spreading the fouls around will indeed help if JH does ever return, however, I like the thought of being able to play without having frequent foul troubles; could small-ball maybe do that?
