There is a reason no one has come calling for Rahe.

Look I loved what Rahe has done with our program and the kids he has brought to Weber. He is a great guy but... I think he has reached his ceiling. I think we are greedy and all want more.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Each year that Randy and his staff have been here, they have improved and changed their approach to adjust to what other teams are doing, changes in the game, rule changes, and changes in personnel. The most noticeable improvements this year is the addition of new zone defenses, new approaches to attacking zones, new press breaking strategies, and new out of bounds plays. That's just what I have noticed. I'm sure that there are more improvements than what I have noticed.

I don't see a ceiling at all. In fact, I see it getting better every year. Last year was a speed bump, and losing to UVU and USU is not acceptable, but I see things getting better. I'm optimistic. :coffee:

Wildcat_Fan is "johnny-on-the-spot" when he says that the Peanut has topped out; reached his ceiling. The proof is in the pudding. No matter his talent level and how well he does in the season his results in the conference tournament solidify his position as a good BSC coach; just not good enough to compare him to successful coaches at higher level programs. It doesn't mean that he is a bad coach, just that for some of us his ceiling is not high enough, while for others, it is plenty high. There is no doubt that when you consider (1) his ability to recruit better talent than the rest of the big sky; (2) his ability to get those kids who are good people first; (3) his ability with x's and O's; and (4) his ability as a game coach he is as good as it gets currently in the BSC. But few could in good conscious argue that he, during his years here, was the best BSC coach. That honor has to go to Tinkle. And when compared to higher level coaches he comes out as very average. As Wildcat_Fan said, "there is a reason that he is still here after 10 years"! A good guy with average, at best, credentials...

And Runner, just because he has made some adjustments for the betterment of the team it doesn't mean that he hasn't already reached his ceiling. If that record is good enough for you Runner, then so be it. But for many of us, we would like to see Weber move to a higher level than they have been at during Rahe's tenure. And it certainly seems that Rahe has proven that he cannot take us there. Ten years is long enough to understand what you've got and what Weber has is a mediocre basketball coach who's ceiling was reached some years ago. As for me, that ceiling is a bit too low.

We all want wins in the NCAAs. We haven't had any since Ron A. You also have to realize what a hole we were in after the Joe C. era. I see us making the steps needed to get there. Sure, it's frustrating that it hasn't happened yet. However, I believe that it will happen. I also believe that Randy can do it. I think that there are many who feel the same way I do. I'm 100% behind Randy and his staff. I believe. :thumb: :thumb:

cravens wasn't a very good coach and is remembered by the fans as a bad coach. during his 7 year tenure at weber state he won 57% of his games. he won a big sky title. he was in the big sky tournament championship game 2 of his final 4 seasons. he beat byu, wisconsin and LSU. 1 ncaa appearance.

rahe is a good coach. during his last 9 seasons at weber state he has won 64% of his games. he won 4 big sky titles. he was in the big sky tournament championship game 5 times. 2 ncaa appearances.

Getting back to the discussion of the game vs the Hawks, Weber opens at a 14 point favorite.

I think Bolomboy has a big game, their bigs are decent players but I don't think they have the skill to stop Bolomboy, and even if they slow him down, the recent improvement of Hill's play and having Braxton's size will help overcome that. Plus Senglin has almost been playing lights out, yes he needs to work on his free throw shooting, and we have enough talent at the rest of the positions to get the job done.

I'm predicting a double digit win for the Wildcats

Weber and Montana are considered the two toughest places to pick up a road win in the Big Sky.

“It’s an environment where they jump on you from the start,” said Jones. “Our start will have to be huge. We’ll have to have some poise and confidence.”

More than half of UND’s players have not experienced a Weber State game in Ogden.

UND junior guard Quinton Hooker, however, has made two trips to Weber. UND’s leading scorer knows what to expect.

“They have a great fan base,” said Hooker, whose 18.3 points per game rank second in the Big Sky. “They’re a team that has a lot of energy and they play at a different pace.”

This game was a little more interesting than it should have been. We did not play well in the second half, at least until the last 5 minutes.

When we finally put the zone on them, it seemed to confuse them quite a bit. Then we got right out of it.

That is one of the best teams I have seen BJ put on the floor. They are going to win some games in the BSC this year. Can they win it all? No. However, they will beat some teams that they wouldn't have last year.

The officials were a little bit better this game. They were still quick with their whistles, but at least they saw a mixture of things, besides hand checking. They weren't perfect, nobody is, but at least they were not wearing blinders. :coffee:
