This is going to look really nice.

I know the design had to be changed due to the fault line, but the project doesn't include upgraded concessions, which I thought it originally had. In fact, it appears that it will eliminate all of the north end concessions area. I don't want to sound greedy, but the concessions are in bad need of improvement.

Consesions will be in the entry plaza.

"Opportunities for concessions." Seems to me that that means the same portable or trailer type concessions that have already been over there. There is nothing in the release or drawings about concessions being a part of the structure itself, only a souvenior shop. So, it really doesn't change anything in terms of concessions. In fact, it may leave less room for the same kind of concessions already there.

Are you wanting a McDonalds or an Olive Garden over there?

No, smart-ass, I want to be able to get a simple hot dog and coke without having to miss an entire quarter of the game waiting in line.

I'm with you there. I think the whole concessions thing is an opportunity for small business to make a significant contribution while being allowed to profit from the football program. Additional developments could be started at the same time the North End zone project is going on. If they are not going to expand the food concession opportunities, then they need to start allowing people to bring food and drink in to the stadium. Maybe they need to invite some national chains in to get the needed money for the additional service for the fans. :coffee:

That I can agree with, especially with allowing outside food in.

The south endzone should have some permanent structures dedicated to food and beverages. Even if they are built up against the fence. I wouldnt mind some sot of concessions up near the new restrooms on the east hill.

Concessions stands up near the east side restrooms would be awesome.

While we are dreaming and putting in requests. Let’s remove the track, move the field 10-15ft to the west and then build out the east stands 20-30 ft. Then we would have a bigger concourse on top by the bathrooms. We could have permanent concessions under the new East seating.

Where would you put the track? Where would you get the money for all of that construction?

What you are saying sounds nice if we had unlimmited resources.

Olds, you’re starting to sound like an observer yourself. If you attend any university planning meetings, you’ll find the university is going to move the track in roughly 10 years. The new track will go in place of wildcat villages, and the empty lot south of there. That’s actually a reality, no dreaming.

I love the north end zone project and the overall improvement of the football stadium. Like I said while we are dreaming. The next step is getting a more butts in the seats and more support from the students. I can’t wait for the season to start.

BTW, I was sitting on the sixth floor of the press box, a couple of years ago, when a small earth quake hit. It was a really strange experience. The place was quiet for a few seconds. I'm glad it was small.

That box was engineered to withstand a decent sized quake It would have to be massive for it to come down.

Now I've never been to any University Planning meetings so I'm not really in the loop, but If the University was really interested in getting rid of the track around the stadium, why would they design PERMANENT Buildings fitted AROUND the track at the Football Stadium?

Or, we could get 20 food trucks in there! No infrastructure spending needed.

I used to think we should move the track. I would be nice but it’s not necessary when your not adding any seating. After this project is done, temporary seating could be added to the south end zone, giving us a mostly closed stadium.
