Northern Arizona vs Eastern Washington prediction thread

In all seriousness, though it looks like it is going to be NAU's homecoming game. NAU is going to play their heart out and have the opportunity for an upset.

I'm going to try and by nice here. Players and coaches could give a rats ass if it's Homecoming or not, that's strictly for the students and parents. All players play to win whether it's Homecoming or for last place. Eastern is a flat out better team than NAU and will get the WIN.

I'm of the opinion that NAU isn't as good as a lot of people on here think, however games down in the dome always seem to be tough. I remember Nichols pulling a game out down there a few years ago with a late TD in a very high scoring game with a playoff spot on the line. Good times.

This is a big game. The rest of the schedule sets up nicely for EWU if they can pull out the W here, assuming VA is still on track to return by the Montana game.

I'll say 41-28 Eags, with the game feeling closer than the score.

No, players only try to win when it's homecoming

strictly for the students and parents

Have you forgotten that the football players are students too? There is a lot of stigma around college football homecoming games. It's nice to believe that players are 100% focused and prepared for every game, but that's just not the case. They are human and effected by outside circumstances. Homecoming parades will likely tout "Down with the Eagles" banners. There will likely be a larger crowd at the game. Homecoming week leads up to the football game and it is a date where teams come out, give it their all, and can make a little magic happen.

Maybe you've been away from homecoming for a little too long. However, I have seen plenty of football players get amped up for homecoming.

But just maybe you haven't been apart of it on either team as have I, it makes NO difference. Homecoming is for pussies. Nice try! But I still love ya dude. Your putting way too much into this.

No doubt, but that hasn't stopped us from playing crappy teams close. Would love to see the team play to their level consistently throughout this game and not down to the competition. Some of this is the target we wear as the favorite, it's the giving the opponents hope with that drives me crazy. Let's get 'em down and put our foot on their throats today!

Whether it's close, blowout or loss... Go Eags! In for a penny, in for a pound.

Not sure how you can say that.... the dresses add to the pageantry of the game!

I think it matters to some degree, until the first play of the game. With the excitement of homecoming, that varies from school to school, there is also associated distractions . The excitement and distractions probably have more impact on underclassmen that the "old" guys. The upperclassmen are more focused on the possibilities of making the playoffs, it could be their last chance. The 'jacks are still 2-1 in conference. You can bet Sauers is pumping them up that this is a must win if they want to be in the hunt a month from now. The balance of their schedule is against the lower teams in the Big Sky so his argument is quite believable.
10/25/2014* Eastern Washington Flagstaff, Ariz.
11/1/2014 * at Weber State Ogden, Utah
11/8/2014 * UC Davis Flagstaff, Ariz.
11/15/2014 at North Dakota Grand Forks, N.D.
11/22/2014 Southern Utah Flagstaff, Ariz.
Their new QB has given the Jacks new energy and confidence, this is a new season for them.
There are currently 6 teams in the BS that only have one loss and you can bet all feel they have a chance to share the title.
IMO this will be a tough game, especially in the first and third qtr.

Eagle pull it out 31- 21

I'm not putting too much into this. I'm just adding up the factors.

I'm just saying that Northern Arizona is at home, with the No.2 in the nation in the house, EWU has a very long conference streak going, and it is homecoming. A combination of all of those factors is going to make NAU very very hungry for the win. Homecoming isn't the make or break here.

I'll concede to this. Like I said, I have seen players getting pumped up for homecoming. However, they were all younger players.

This is a huge trap game for Eastern. NAU should realistically be 5-2 and are probably the best team we have played since MSU. To win this game, West will need to play a lot better than he did against UNC and the defense and special teams will really need to have another huge game to win today. I think this will be a low scoring affair, somewhere in the realm of 24-21 and we could be on either side of that score.

I've watched NAU several times this year and I think they are actually a slight favorite against EWU at home. With the offense sputtering the way it's been the past couple weeks, I think we will need to make a play on Special teams or get a couple turnovers to win.

I agree we will need to be balanced on offense but I also know our defense has been improving and gaining confidence the last few games and should play great again today! go Eags!!!

You pretty well nailed it.
