I was really impressed with how Weber played in the 2nd half last night. Came right out and pushed the 3 point lead up to 8-10 and then never let NoCol cut the lead to less than 5. Offensively they were at the top of their game given that NoCol was intent on not letting Bolomboy and Hill beat them down low. Weber shot 7-13 from 2 and 6-11 from 3 in that 2nd half. And they were 6-6 from the foul line. Senglin got to the basket numerous times and was 3 of 4 from 3. He really asserted himself. Plus, Baker hit two huge 3s. A big road win.
Quick turn around with a 1pm game on Saturday in ND.

I agree. Our offensive confidence in the second half was impressive. When Senglin get going, he's unstoppable. He reminds me of Davion Berry. Similar styles of play.

While there are some things you can pick out about this game as areas of improvement, overall I thing it's a great win. NorCol is a tough place to play. I rarely expect us to blow opponents out on the road. I thought we did a good job of never getting comfortable and staying sharp down the stretch. We didn't let NoCol get to close.

It does sometimes scare me to think what will happen in a game like this when Senglin is not shooting well. Things could go south in a hurry. I get nervous when we start taking a three every other time down the court instead of really setting into our offense. Fortunately for us, our guys shot the basketball well last night and we came out with the win.

Now on to North Dakota. Should be a tough game.

Wow we win and our coach (peanut)gets dumped on and so do the players,I guess it could be worse you could be on the grizzlies forum.

Really?? Please count the number of "negative" replies? Since the game ended, there have been 14 including this one. Out of that number, I can only see 1 that brought up some good, but negative points. Please stop stirring the pot, when the pot doesn't need to be stirred.

Love winning in Greeley. It has been a few years since we got a W out there. Nice to see the team start the road trip with a W. Looking forward to watching the game on Saturday.

The smell of Wildcat victory in Greeley, nothing smells better! Probably because no place on the planet smells worse than Greeley. I did notice that their attendance was way down last night. What happened to Northern becoming the new Gonzaga? Looks like that dream went with the cows to the slaughter house.

I suppose I am amongst those that another poster points out as making mostly negative comments after a victory. Believe me, I prefer a victory over a loss any time. But I feel there are negative things that should be brought up when the victory was as "ugly" as that one in Greeley last night.

First I don't really think we shot the three ball well. 3/13 in the first half (23%) and great in second half at 6/11 or 54%. For the game we shot only 37%! I don't call that shooting the 3 well...

We started both halves fairly well but it wasn't the offense that did it. The defense held them down during the early part of each period and the offense did just enough to expand the lead. And by the way, UNC did get close (within 2) in the second half.

We didn't put them away when we should have. We had at least three occasions when we could have turned this game into more of a distance game and in the end each time we let UNC climb back into it mostly thru poor offense and ridiculous turnovers (18). I guarantee that we will never beat a good team with 18 turnovers.

I disagree with Geo-Guy when he says that we didn't get into our set offense enough. I think we ran the set offense plenty. Gotta realize that "the peanuts" offense this year is all about setting up the three and thats what they did last night. God forbid that we should ever get cold for a whole game as we did in the first half last night.

I say again, we won't beat ND on Saturday with the game we put on the floor Thursday night. Sure we finally won at UNC but UNC is a much worse team this year than they have been in the past few years.

I don't see myself as stirring the pot, I guess I'm just not that negative an individual I like to look at the positives and that's it.We beat a team on their court by ten after hearing that they are on a roll.I guess that's not good enough for some, and by the way there was some upset people on the montana board too.

Yes the first half was awful and the 2nd half great, as far as 3s are concerned.
But as for your claim that "For the game we shot only 37%! I don't call that shooting the 3 well." Well, you might not, but I would. I think 37% from the 3 is good, not great, but good. Especially on the road. In fact, Weber matched its season average of 37.5% with its 9/24.
Right now, only 5 teams in the Big Sky are shooting 37% or better from 3 for the season. EWU leads the conference at just 39%.
Keep in mind, a team has to shoot over 56% from inside the arc to match the point production of 37.5% from beyond the arc.

I just have one last thing to say on this thread.

Sometimes fans see a player defending in such a way that makes them appear less aggressive than the fan might like them to be. Fans get frustrated and want to call the player out on it. However, it is often part of the defensive game plan for them to back off of certain players, in certain situations. A prime example of that was in this game. There was a player or two on UCN's team who were being lead into taking certain shots. Shots that they don't and can't make, with any semblance of regularity.

I'm never going to criticize a player for following the game plan. It takes a lot of fortitude to be aggressive when you need to be and back off when you should, and to keep it all strait in your head. When you know a guy is a slasher, but can't hit an outside shot to save his life, you play him differently than a guy who can drill an outside shot. :twocents:

I see where Tomcat is coming from, for I too commented on it, only difference was I quoted the poster and Tomcat did not. There is nothing wrong with bringing up issues about ugly play and so forth as long as you also recognize the positives as well, there was plenty of ugly last night but plenty of good to balance it out.

But as a poster to only focus on the negativity and to completely ignore the positives is by my defenition a Debbie downer, a negative Nancy or whatever you prefer.
