Portland State basketball: Vikings looking to turn season around at home against Big Sky co-leader Northern Colorado

You could tell from watching that game how much UNC is overachieving this year. Their talent level is nowhere near the level of the Vikings. Without Waters for a third of the game and PSU still wins by 16--just imagine if they had that sort of game night-in night-out. The Viks could be a tough team to beat as long as the Big Sky tourney isn't in Missoula.

The coaching staff in Greeley must be doing one hell of a job. I'd expect them to drop in the standings as the season goes on though.

Good point. This could have been a 25 point win. Not to be a sore winner, but if we cleaned up the turnovers (especially inside), this is a major blowout.

Couple of thoughts.

Coaching staff did well. They knew what would work tonight and kept with it.

Is it me or is Waters is getting known to be a chronic fouler on offense? Some of those calls could have gone either way, but the officials seem to be looking for it now.

93.3% from the charity stripe. Me like.

Hats off to Jones and Thomas tonight for being tough down in the paint. Key part of the win.

I did a quadruple take on Brandon tonight. The locks are gone.

Hey students: I certainly don't expect this, but watch and learn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSc2gBarWRg

Good win.

I may be too critical, but I didn't think Portland State played that well tonight, and Northern Colorado didn't look like it belonged in the Mid-Major top 25 at all. Could have been an off night for the Bears, just glad the Viks won.

College basketball: Portland State 85, Northern Colorado 69

As a student, you have NO idea how much I wish that our student section would even somewhat get into the game. It pisses me off, really. Other things that I wish for: cheerleaders/a mascot who actually try to get the crowd involved and at least pretend like they're enjoying being there, and an usher or two to keep people who aren't students from sitting there. Gotta love when some random older person sits there and then gives people like members of the track team nasty looks for shouting things. Well, look where you are sitting!

We need a a University Studies Cluster Course on Student Participation for Division I Basketball.

Week 1: The Airball and You!
Week 2: U-got-Swatted
Week 3: Yes you just committed that foul!
Week 4: Midterm
Week 5: Left, right, left, right, left, right, sitdown!
Week 6: The 13th man on their roster just checked in, now ride him like a horse!
Week 7: Theory of standing and making noise on defense.
Week 8: Midterm
Week 9: Overrated!
Week 10: Warm up the bus!
Week 11: Final

As a bear fan I have to say that although you guys seemed to manhandle us I have to disagree that were overachieving this year. We simply had a bad night in most areas especially rebounding and getting good patient shots.. I expect this is going to be a dogfight in the BS. It was a good game and will be looking for that 1st win vs the vikings when they come to Greeley.

This is pure brilliance, but it also reminds of the kind of course that a coach like Jim Harrick would teach, if you know what I mean ;)
