Northern Colorado Up Next

Hope the Wildcats can rebound (literally) and their shooting % heats up as they step into the freezer Sat. night. Lots of work ahead to become a contender team. UNCO's bench out performing WSU's tonight?? By the way, EWU beat Montana at Cheney tonight.

:puke: Can't remember the last time we got worked that bad in a conference game. This team lacks toughness. Just way too soft.

That sucked, but i am not too worried. Let's see how the Cat's react on Sat. night. Bear's stomped us but we need to regroup and get the split.

Yeah, assist/turnover ratio UNC: 1.4; WSU: 0.6 . That not gonna get it done. They looked decent (aside from outside shooting) a good chunk of the first half but then kinda withered similar to @UCLA. Joel was exciting to watch again even though his D lacked some in the 2ND. Tres was forcing the double-team but like several on the team had somewhat a slow start. The lack of defensive toughness in the the 2ND half was horrible. About 10 turnovers in the first half and out-rebounded again (sigh.) Man, it sucks to watch teams that start hanging their heads instead of firing up and going at it harder, I hope the youth will turn that aspect around by next season.

Weber has got to get rid of slow starts (consistently!) Offensively, they are missing that spot up shooter-- one, who can curl around a screen or even just consistently hit the open jumper. The inside game was holding it's own but did not get the support from outside shooting and was then compounded with huge defensive lapses in the 2ND. The conference season is young, they have plenty of time to get it rolling for a run at hosting.

Ugh...that was a hard game to watch. Weber's offense depends so much on spreading the floor, but the Cats don't have anyone who can hit the outside shot consistently. Nothing really changes with next years class, other than Ryan Richardson, but I don't think he will be ready right away. It might be best to go after a couple of really good JCs this spring. A 3 and possibly a 2. Also, we desperately need toughness and leadership. Our SRs were great as JRs, but haven't been very good as SRs. We need a guy who will lead on the floor. Berry has got to be that guy. He can't disappear for huge stretches of games.

I dislike these kind of comments, it's not a valid excuse when we have 3 guys who should be Juniors all long gone from the program, & 5 Seniors, & Hajek has been with the program for 4 yrs.

The Bears start five upperclassmen and Weber State coach Randy Rahe felt like UNC's experience was the difference Thursday.

"I felt like at certain times, against certain lineups, it was almost men against boys," Rahe said in a postgame radio interview. "I like our young guys, I really do, but they were playing against some older kids that have been through this conference for three/four years. They've got a veteran team, they've got a confident team, they've been playing a lot of home games and they're playing excellent basketball right now."

See thats the kind of sh!t with Rahe that get on my nerves. I agree 100%, we have 3 seniors and at least 3 others who have been with the program awhile. And if he thinks it was man against boys, dont throw 5 boys out there at one time! We hovered around 11,12 down for a minute and needed that spark to get it to single digits and we had at one point Senglin, Gittens, Williams, Hill, and Tres on the floor, WTF?? Coach makes that comment but he is the one who put them out there. DOnt get it. :ohno:

can we call unc a good loss that was early and helpful? i mean getting smoked is never helpful, can you say it's a wakeup call? the first half of our schedule looks good. lots of home games. we need to be ready for the 2nd half which has like 6 on the road in the last 8.

if you win 90% at home and 50% on the road thats 15-5.

a win at und would put us at 3-1 with 4 home games coming. rahe hasnt lost at home since 2011.

That sums it up right there. Berry not stepping up as the new Bam and the same could kinda be said about Tres for Mook, although it's a little different there.

True. Not to mention, Hill looked lost again. He seemed to be taking good steps in the last few games but he didn't have a clue what to do. I struggle to understand why they (the offense) can look so outta sync sometimes-- not run a set and miss a shot, I mean when players look lost, throw mindless passes, have trouble catching a ball that hits 'em right in the hands, etc. It's easy to understand and even expect the youngsters to have some growing pains, especially on the road against a good team-- I guess it just keeps going back to the lack of Senior leadership and toughness.

Absolutely! They were never going undefeated and many of us didn't have them winning the BSC. I'd much rather have the road loss against the best team in the conference than a home loss to a SUU or any loss to the State of Montana. There's plenty of time, I just hope Rahe gets them super competitive before playoffs roll around and doesn't shrug off the weaknesses with excuses or a laissez faire (sp?) attitude.

Was it just me or did anyone else chuckle when the announcer called Eric Curry one of the premier ref in the west?

i remember a few yrs back in logan i was at a curry officiated game when the clock malfuctioned (intentional?) with seconds to go in a tight one. boylen flipped his lid. it was quite funny except it had an impact on the game and utes might have won. luckily curry was there to "save" the day. :bad: :wall:

When I heard that, I wanted to throw a shoe at the TV. First of all, if that is true, what about the rest of the refs. They must be absolute pond scum. I wondered if they were watching the same game I was. They showed the replay of one out of bounds play 6 times. The ball was clearly pushed out by a UNC player, but it was in front of the UNC bench. They gave it back to UNC. There was a time out called and they could have gone to the monitor, but didn't. The announcers didn't say a word about it, they just kept showing the replay. It's what you get on the road in the BSC. At least, when you are home you get some of that stuff going your way. Nationwide, home court advantage is about 10 points. It's probably a lot higher than that in the BSC. We are the proving ground for all other conferences refs. If they are any good, they move on. If they suck, they stay put. They don't even need to be that good to move on. Curry is a prime example of that. :twocents:
