What do we know about this team?

They lost big to the team we just played. They gave up a lot of points and a lot of yards. They have lost their starting QB for the season. I really don't know much more about them.

I would expect that our O could get healthy on these guys. I also expect that our D will be up to the task of stopping them. IMHO, this game could get out of hand early and often. There should be good chances of seeing the entire lineup.

Mott had a really strong game against a good defense. The Hornets, like us, strength lies in their D and backup Mott still passed for 315 yards and 2 TDs in a losing effort. Along with the 319 yards passing (Knipp had 4 yards before his unfortunate injury...wishing him the best) the cubbies ran for 121 yards. The cubbies are dangerous on offense and can move the ball. The Cats cannot look past the cubbies. They need to come prepared and ready to play. Our offense must get better.

I really want to see the offense put it together this weekend. In Weber's first 3 games the offense is a combined 5-39 on 3rd downs....I kid you not. This is big. I don't know if it's the play calling or what but this needs to change. We need to be able to move the ball, sustain drives and consume time on our drives to give our defense plenty of rest. Our defense was huge on Saturday but we cant always rely on them to win games for us. The offense needs to pick up the slack.

Hopefully that happens this week and we can go into the bye on a 3 game winning streak.

Yes, he is good. I believe he went to high school in Utah. Knipp broke his collar bone for the third straight season. It's too bad because he is probably the top QB for the NFL draft for the FCS. We do have weapons on the offense, but our o-line is so bad that it is difficult to get any momentum and score points. Our defense is okay. You shouldn't have a problem with us on Saturday. I'm not trying to sandbag, but I hope the Bears keep it within 3 TDs.

This Wildcat team gets better every week. Our D has cleaned up little mistakes here and there. The O is coming along a little slower, but is showing signs that they are about to turn the corner. They have the right mindset to continue improving throughout the season. I like what they are doing and where they are going.

I'm predicting a breakout game by the O and a solid game from the D. Special teams have been stellar. I'll go out on a limb and predict a WSU win 45 - 17.

Go Wild Wildcats!!

Only change to the depth chart is Constantine listed as the starter.

Just realized this, but every offensive player on the depth chart, except Opeta, is a non-Sr. And 9 of the 11 starters are Fr or So. No wonder they've started slowly. But gets me very excited about the future for that side of the ball.

There is a lot of young talent on both sides of the ball. The last few recruiting years have been great. We are seeing just the tip of the iceberg on how this team will come together and improve. We will see it week to week and season to season.

UNCO, on the other hand, has been built for this year. They are senior laden and very experienced. For their coach, it is a now or never sort of thing. They have gone through some hardship over the past few years and that has either made them stronger or beat them down. We will see which. :coffee:

Throw back jerseys and flying w helmets this game. Those helmets look so good. Can't believe they don't make them permanent.

Did Weber offer Mott a scholarship out of high school?

He's got an interesting history. His last name used to be Torre. He was originally committed to Louisville before moving to Utah prior to his Sr year and then committed to BYU. After losing the starting job at HS power Bingham three games into the season, and with the change in coaching staffs at BYU, his offer was pulled. Don't think he had many options after that and I don't remember ever hearing that Weber offered him. And being a BYU fan he probably thought Weber was beneath him anyway.

BYU pulled their offer? I remember there was some strange thing going on with his mom and cheerleading funds at the school.

He's a good QB. He filled in for Jacob Knipp last week when he broke his collar bone (for the 3rd straight year). We don't always recruit well at every position, but we can get very good QB's to come to Greeley. Kyle Sloter was Knipp's back up two years ago, had a fantastic season and is now playing on the 53 man roster for the Minnesota Vikings.

The problem with the Bears is finding talent on the offensive and defensive line.

Mom plead no contest to embezzling booster funds in Oklahoma. No wonder they moved to Utah. But that's not the worst of it. She and her husband were also charged with repeatingly beating their children. Hope the kid succeeds in life, despite his ass hole parents. He deserves any success he gets.

Horrible stuff. I guess that explains the name change to Mott.

In 18 years of coaching youth soccer, I coached several kids who survived situations similar, or worse, to what this young man has survived. To my knowledge, all of them went on to become good adults and have good, productive lives. It has always amazed me how resilient children can be. They simply find their love and role models elsewhere. Often times it is through sports. I certainly wish him nothing but the best in life. However, I still want our guys to sack him as often as they can. :coffee:

For 20 years I have sat on the Eastside, 18 rows up, near the band. The good the bad, the real bad - I rarely miss a game. My co worker, will be out of town, and gave me her chair back seats for this game.

If we lose it will be because I sat in a different spot.

Welcome to the quiet side of the stadium. I will be the guy on row 8 standing up and screaming. Shouldn't be hard to miss unfortunately.

Seriously, my only complaint about the West side is how little the crowd gets into the game. If they made half as much noise as they do for a free pizza, the place would rock.

Up in the press box it is not that quiet. The opposition coaches are right next to me and they usually make a ruckus all game long. They have been known for throwing things once in a while. Desk slamming and banging on walls is a regular thing.

Game Day. Love our chances today.
Keys to the Wildcat win:
  • Dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Stop the run and establish the run.
  • Win the turnover battle. Mostly do not turn the ball over.
  • Build long drives. Third down conversions and Red Zone offense needs to improve. Bonus if we can find a passing game.

Totally agree. They are going to throw the ball a ton. We need to get a few picks and not allow anything deep. They threw the ball over 40 times in their last game. Our secondary will be tested. we need to rush Mott all game long and force him to make some bad throws. Let's hope we can stay on top of the turnover stats. :coffee:
