Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. PSU has been selected to participate in the CIT tournament. Viks have a bye and will play an opponent TBD after Monday's games.

However, PSU will be on the road during its run through the tournament because of "its lack of a home facility".

Northern Colorado also was chosen and also has a bye.

Games Monday in the CIT:
Central Michigan at Fort Wayne
Abilene Christian at Drake
NC A&T at Liberty
Hartford at San Diego

Other scheduled first round games in the CIT
Texas-San Antonio at Lamar (Wed)
St. Francis (PA) at Illinois-Chicago (Wed)
Niagara at Eastern Michigan (Wed)
La-Monroe at Austin Peay (Thurs)

From SB Nation:

"The CIT is the fourth-tier postseason college basketball competition below the NCAA Tournament, the NIT, and the CBI. (You could argue the CIT is equal to the CBI, but the CBI has a history of attracting major conference schools in addition to mid-majors, while the CIT exclusively offers bids to mid-major programs.)

The tournament charges a fee for teams to host home games. In 2012, it was reported as $30,000 per home game; in 2014, it was reported as $36,000 per home game; and this year, CollegeAD.com reported it was $38,500 to host a game."

We are not hosting a "home" game. I suspect we just have our travel cost to worry about.

CIT scores from Monday,

Central Michigan 94, Fort Wayne 89
Drake 80, Abilene Christian 73
Liberty 65, NC A&T 52
San Diego 88, Hartford 72

Something is telling me we're going to San Diego... 8-)

Confirmed. Viks have a game in San Diego on Saturday at 7pm.

Viks currently 3-0 against the WCC this year, beating 3 of the bottom 4 finishers in that conference.

Other CIT scores from Wednesday,

Eastern Michigan 83, Niagara 65
Illinois-Chicago 84, St. Francis (PA) 61
Texas-San Antonio 76, Lamar 69

PSU wasn't hosting because the administration wouldn't pay to host...as usual, no support from the administration!

BTW there are no travel costs for visiting teams...paid for by the home team entry fee.

I had heard it was because they couldn't work out the logistics with Lewis and Clark on short notice. Also that the NCAA did not want the game at a DIII gym.

But it does kind of makes sense. Pay to host, pay to get the other team here, pay L&C to rent out the building again, pay the L&C staffers for one more game; to host a game off campus so no exposure to your school, limited student attendance and participation, and the game played at a DIII school. Besides, its not like they had to go to Spartanburg, SC.

:thumb: Not a bad year considering injuries, the flu, loss of our best player midway and canda breaking his hand against ewu and missing the game last night.

Agreed 100%. Well, other than the two Sac State losses. I'll get over that at some point.

Well, we did beat the Hornets when it counted the most, in the conference tournament. :thumb:
