Any word on what happened to Josh Evans?

He was a player I always expected to jump up some day and become a star, because physically he looked awesome. It's too bad that things didn't work for him. It would be interesting to know why he left.

Here is a podcast created today, featuring sports editor Skyler Archibald and yours truly discussing the loss to UC Davis and how the Vikings might rebound against Washington State.

During his short tenure at Portland State, Jerry Glanville has been known to be the kind of head coach that oversees what is transpiring on the practice field.

Typically Glanville steps back and lets his position coaches perform most of the hands-on teaching, instructing and coaching while he stands with his arms crossed only to interject every now and then.

But something was different about Glanville’s approach at practice this morning. Instead of sticking to his hands-off approach, Glanville stepped right in the middle of the action, giving orders to his players, showing how to correct mistakes and just flat out coaching.

It's a little confusing to get to the podcast, so here's the link:

one complaint, turn up the volume guys!

Here are five things you must know before Saturday’s matchup with Washington State.

Pedersen being out hurts. Richards *should* do well, but at some point we're going to have our backup to our backup in there when Richards needs a breather. I'm assuming Smith will get reps if Richards is out?

So is Jones out for sure?

I think it's a gametime decision. Hopefully there is a blog update for today's practice.

That's bad news that Assily may be banged up. Also, I have a feeling that if Brown is anywhere close to being able to play, he'll play. Sitting him for the non-conference games was smart to get him healthy since conference play starts Saturday.

Here's the info from yesterday's practice:

"Left cornerback Reggie Jones and defensive end John Shackford, both injured in Saturday's 48-9 loss at Washington State, were still in walking boots Wednesday and remained questionable for the Sacramento State game. ... "

Agreed. If Jones and Assily are both out, I'd expect Brown to at least give it a go.
