O-line coach gone

Per coachingsearch.com:

North Dakota State: Sources tell me Sacramento State offensive line coach Conor Riley will join the NDSU staff.

Lost o-line coaches in consecutive seasons now.

Good move for Coach Riley and he will be greatly missed. The OL performed exceptionally well the past couple of seasons while he was here. NDSU is a premier FCS program. He no doubt wanted to move closer to home as he is from Omaha and coached at UN- Omaha when they shut their program down a couple of years ago. Fortunately this announcement comes after signing day.

Any leads as to who Sperbeck goes after to replace him? Will former assistant OL coach Kelley be called up from Humboldt?

Kelley HSU bio: http://hsujacks.com/staff.aspx?staff=115

Kelley served one year as an OL assistant coach during Riley’s first year here before moving on to HSU to fill the OL coach vacancy. Bringing Kelley back to Sac makes too much sense not to happen.

Did you guys read Kelley's bio? There's a probable typo in there (Humboldt should be ashamed of themselves).

At the end, there's a little tidbit that might make you want to think twice. See where his wife played volleyball?

;-)

Of course, he'll probably be a great choice regardless.

Have we heard anything:?

Sacramento State (FCS): Sources tell us that former Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Bill Laveroni will become the offensive line coach at Sac State.

Interesting development. It does beg the question as to why Kelley was tapped as ST coordinator then. Seems odd to bring in someone with no ST experience to handle a facet of the team that has caused us multiple losses over the past few seasons. :?

"From 1990-94, he worked at San Jose State as the offensive line coach but also had duties with special teams from 1990-92."

Thats stretching it.

Glad to see we now can afford to pay asst's with this level of experience. Having a position coach of an NFL team for five years can only strengthen the already stellar OLine.
