Often, the grass isn't greener on the other side. I'll only discuss what I (barely) know and that's Big Sky Conference goings on.
There has been some random talk on egriz.com regarding a move to the WAC. Speculation...hearsay...utter fantasy? Who knows? The belief behind it seems to be that many think they've outgrown the rest of the Big Sky Conference. Maybe so but if an 11-1 season with the one loss in the playoffs makes a large portion of the Griz fan base unhappy then what would a yearly pummeling by Boise State do? BSU's not the same kind of program that left the Big Sky. It's not the late 80s and early 90s and BSU is a whole different breed now. Tough games against Fresno State, Hawai'i and Nevada but the rest of the conference don't currently seem to provide much competition.
I predict Missoula in flames and Bobby Hauck's head posted on a stake in front of the football stadium if they make the jump?
On a completely different note I'm still torqued that NDSU didn't get an invitation to the Big Sky a few years back. The "travel distance issue" that I heard brought up is BS. It's a long way anywhere in conference regardless. NDSU, from my time spent in Fargo, seems to be a respectable academic institution with competitive athletics and damned good community support. It would have been win-win in my mind. True competition makes sports better.
