I will try to update this as the Mid Major top 25 polls are updated during the season.

Introduction
Being voted to the Mid-Major top 25 is like being voted one of the cool kids at band camp. It’s fine and good to be voted a cool kid, but at the end of the Summer you have to go back to school with the Jocks and real cool kids. At the end of the day, you are still a band kid fighting for respect. Lately, when a band kid repeatedly shows up the jocks, they invite them to join the football team. (see VCU, Butler & Creighton)

This week at Band Camp November 4th 2013

The band kids arrive to camp this week after an exciting year last year. One of the drummers (Creighton) decided he was too cool and religious for the band kids, so he joined the Catholic members of the football team.

The band director (collegeinsider.com) sent out his pre band camp cool kids list. It’s no surprise that the two coolest drummers (Wichita State & Gonzaga) were voted as the top two at band camp. Both star drummers have decided to pick on members of the jr high band (Division II) to start off band camp with a little confidence.

The #3 cool kid is the really annoying, religious flute player (BYU). They will start off by squaring off against the super cool Tuba player that is the #15 ranked cool kid (Weber State). The flute player is making the Tuba player come to his really creepy bunk for the match. Really strange things happen when people go to the creepy flute players bunk.

The 9th grade equipment manager (Florida Gulf Coast #11 cool kid) shocked the world last year at the cool kid prom. He has a tough match this week against an offensive lineman from the football team (Nebraska).

The toughest match up for the band kids will come when the awesome trompbone player (Davidson #8 ) takes on the quarterback from the football team (Duke). A win will move the trombonist to the top of the cool kids list.

A lot of the cool kids at band camp are taking lesser band kids or picking on members of the jr. high band. Here is to a good Summer at band camp!
 
Update for the November 11th Cool Kids List

With the first week of band camp in the books, the band director has released an update to the cool kids list. I just noticed that the Tuba players (Weber) mentor and friend “Uncle Dick” (Hunsaker) is the chairmen of the cool kids at band camp committee.

There was not a lot of change in the cool kids list. The band members that went and beat up jr high band kids did not get much credit for it and the band kids that got pummeled by the jocks still ended up being pretty cool.

The smart, rich French horn player (Harvard) moved up from the #12 spot to the #5 position on the list. We don’t know why because they just beat up the small quiet Catholic kid in the band (Holy Cross). Maybe he paid off "Uncle Dick".

The super annoying religious flute player (#3 BYU) looks to be a legit cool kid. First they bested the Tuba player (Weber) at their bunk, then they went to football practice and embarrassed one of the line backers (Stanford).

The bass drummer (#2 Gonzaga) invited the punter from the football team (Colorado State) to band camp. It wasn’t pretty, the punter left in an ambulance. While being put in the ambulance, the punter (CSU) told the tuba player (Weber) to meet him after football practice next week. We will see how that goes.

One of the band flag twirlers (Northern Colorado) got tired of being picked on by the safety on the football team (Kansas State). The flag twirler waited until after football practice and beat him with his flag stick. When the flag twirler returned to band camp, the other band members reluctantly voted him to the last spot on the cool kids list.

The hick banjo player (Montana) has been sitting around lazy all week. He still got voted to the cool kids list, but he has to visit the goalie from the hockey team (Minnesota) tonight.

I am mostly just covering local band members and members of the band that sit at the tuba players lunch table (Big SkY). Let me know of any other things I should be covering at band camp.
 
I look forward to the update of band camp each week. I think you do a good job and who is being included in the write up (the Sky and local teams). Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming.
 
Update for the week of December 9th

Our favorite Tuba player (Weber) did not receive a single vote on this weeks cool kids at band camp list.
In fact the Tuba player was missing for about two weeks, and friends and family were beginning to panic. The tuba player has been very isolated and is tied for being the least involved kid at band camp (Louisiana Mornroe has also only played 4 games). The band director was looking for way to help the Tuba player out of his funk so he enlisted the help of the Tuba player uncle Dick (Hunsaker). Uncle Dick is going to have the Tuba player come over and square off against his son the symbol crasher tonight.

The star drummer (Wichita St) continues to be the ultimate cool kid at band camp. He is considered to be one of the coolest kids at the whole school. The really rich, smart French horn player (Harvard) has continued his rise to the top of the cool kids list. He is doing it by picking on other kids at band camp.

The super religious flute player (BYU) has been doing what a typical cool kid at band camp does. They look really good when they beat up the other kids at band camp. But they don't look so good when they get their butts kicked by members of the football team. This week they will be going to face our cousin that is the 3rd string cornerback on football team (Utah). The cornerback bench warmer started to get too cool for his cousins when he started eating lunch at the table with the football players with sun tans (the Pac-12). The flute player will lay a whooping on the bench warmer cornerback. The cornerback usually only picks on members of the jr high band.

Did any of that kissing actually happen at band camp? Since we can't really talk about our basketball team, tell us some real band camp stories.
