I was going to wait until the end of the season to start this, but after another terrible performance yesterday I can't help myself. This program has become an embarrassment to the University and community. There is absolutely no reason to believe that this coaching staff can ever turn this program around.

Impatience side of my thoughts: expect a mediocre football program for the foreseeable future if HC Sears is retained; he can't seem to pull out the "thorn in our side" problems of the team's play. Realistic side of my thoughts: seems AD Bovee isn't in the mood to change the HC; he stated recently in a newspaper article that lingering "instability" in the football program has been hurting the situation and things are now on the right track for rebuilding. My GUESS is win or lose vs. Bengals, HC Sears will be given another year. Agree, it's been a miserable 2013 season for sure and a hope for the best has faded into doubt that leads to expecting something less!! :thumbdown:

Win or Lose, Sears stays. Consider the following argument:
Sears was retained after a terrible season last year. It would have been very easy to let him go last year and since they did not, it follows that there are some issues that make it difficult to get another quality coach at the FCS level and with the money we can afford to pay people. Perhaps it is the money that we can pay or the fact that we play at the FCS level. Whatever the reason, I think Sears will be here for at least 1 more season (perhaps 2). Not that I am a fan of Sears, but I think that is the reality of where we are at.

Too bad we did not hire Ed Lamb when we had the chance - look at at what is happening in Cedar City. :wall:

So you would rather just hit the reset button yet again and guarantee we suck for at least 5 more years? Give Jody a chance to recruit his type of players and actually have a senior class that has more than a handful of guys in it. Yet again you are blaming Jody for John L's transgressions.

It is just too soon to know if Coach Sears (and Staff) are going to be able to turn this program around. With only one recruiting class of their own and with the "House Cleaning" by JL before he left these coaches and players have not had a chance. Either way this program is looking at 2 more years of rebuilding. Bring in yet another staff and that is another year lost of recruiting and you will lose some current players who do not fit or like the new Coach's plans.

Yeah. It's too friggin early to have a thread like this up. I'll jump on board if we are looking at a similar win-loss record next season, but we gotta give Sears at least one more year.
