Old Timer Weber State Football Fans?

Hey folks, I'm here because you guys will be visiting Cal Poly in a few weeks and Southern Utah doesn't seem to have any fans online. My question is this, do any of you remember a quarterback for the Wildcats from the late seventies/early eighties named Bill Tantillo? I doubt he set any records there, but he was my high school quarterback at Branham High School in San Jose California. Just wondering if any of you remember him?

Sorry polydad, this Wildcat wasnt born until 87 and didnt really start following the team till about 99

I feel so old!
I do remember seeing the name, but I don't have any recollection of his play. I'm old too, and that is a distant memory for me. He!!, yesterday might be distant for me.

The best QB we ever had, Jamie Martin, came out of California, as I recall. He went on to play several years in the NFL. As I remember it, he kind of slipped to us when all the PACX schools got their first choices and left him hanging. That happens from time to time. :coffee:

Our QB this year is a former walk on. He isn't the most physically gifted player you will see, but he is a tough kid and a real gamer.

Not too old for me but I didn't recognize the name, maybe because I'd been living in Idaho for a few years at that time. Anyways, any WSU QB who can have this kind of game and a W against the Griz is a great guy to me

It was Weber State's first home-field win over Montana ever.

Good find. That's a little before I started attending games. First I've heard of Tantillo, but I recognize another guy mentioned in the article, Roger Ruzek. I remember following Ruzek a bit as he played in the NFL for several years.

Thank you SO much for digging this up. You just made about 8 old timer former high school teammates of Bill's day!

Been off the board for a while, but I just went digging through the record books. Looks like he was the starting quarterback for only one season, or at least was the main guy for one season. He was 103-204 for 1,175 yards, 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 1980.

That sounds about right. Bill was a junior college transfer, so he was only a Wildcat for two years. He still has fond memories of time spent in Ogden
