Opinions - McNeese vs. EW

Hi Guys & Gals,

Just soliciting some feed back.

You guys played both McNeese & EW this year. How do you think the two teams will match up tomorrow night. Weather may be a factor low 50s to upper 40s and an 80% chance of rain fall up to 1". McNeese has a grass field and I think EW palys on grass too so both should know that the conditions will be rather sloppy. Your thoughts?

I think rain and mud work to EWU's advantage, since it takes away a little from MSU's excellent speed. I'll still take MSU to win.

Any game in Louisiana I'd have to take McNeese. I also think that they're a better, more physical team wherever the game is. I think MSU will probably win by at least two touchdowns.

No matter the level, this year is bizarro for college football. West Virginia and Missouri would take the cake. At least having Ohio State back would make sense. Who's going to win the FCS this year? Two big-time powers out. Northern Iowa? Maybe App State can come back and do it again?

Well It wasn't pretty if you were there live and in person like me.

We missed several red zone oppertunities in the first half that would have let us keep it close if not go in slightly ahead at the hallf. That would have given us a bettter chance to make some OF & DF adjustments in the 2nd half and possibly taken it down to the wire.

I think the real key was the injury to all american DE Bryan Smith two weeks ago. Without his outside pass rush we were having to blitz the LBs & S to try and pressure EWs QB. We were also playing a zone at the same time to counter EWs deep strike capability. This left the short routes or check down to the RB/TE open and EW took advantage of it all night long. Completed 34 of 44 I think with most plays averaging 8 to 10 yds per catch. You live by the blitz or you die by the blitz. Iin this case it was a killer combo.

We also were without or had some of our first string backs and receivers with injuries. Lost All American reciver Steven Whitehead to injury against UL. Leading running back Jamie Lenaord lost in the third game of the season. Lost running back Toddric Penderland against UCA. Deep threat receiver Quinten Lawerence has been hobbled by a deep thigh bruise the past two games really hampering his ability to create seperation down the field. Starting FB went out in firts quatrer of this game.

Once we got down by three scores it took us completely out of our game and the rest is history.

O well we take our defeats just like our wins, ONE AT A TIME.

Hope the Viks have a great year in 2008 and since I don't think we have a regular season game schaduled I look forward to seeing you in the palyoffs next year.

Sincerely,

GEAUX POKES![/i]

I was surprised to see EWU beat the Pokes. I guess you really have to tip your hats to the EWU coaching staff for what they have done with their team. They have done the best job by far of any staff in the Big Sky.
