So.....What do you all think of the Duckies, do they have a shot at the national title? /users/31/07/37/smiles/949928.gif

Nope. They're the same team they were last year with more mature leaders. They've gotta beat USC, and two out of OSU, and Oklahoma, and LSU have to lose. BC should lose, maybe tomorrow. I'm not a fan, but they play exciting football.

They're very good this year, but, as Cal demonstrated, still vulnerable.

They have much more yet to accomplish inside the Pac-10 as the games against USC, UCLA and ASU are yet to be played. Each of these teams can beat Oregon and OSU and Arizona can also pop in as spoilers. Washington scored a lot of points on them. If they are able to get by USC, their stock will climb. But UCLA beat Cal and that has got to give them confidence against Oregon, especially playing at home. Arizona State looks scary good under Dennis Erickson. There are so many possibilities, so many variations. They have retrenched themselves well this season and will be in a dogfight among the Pac-10's best entering into the stretch drive.

It used to be UCLA, USC, Arizona State and Washington, and now it is UCLA, USC, Arizona State and Oregon.

Random comment. I really liked their uniforms for the UW game. The white helmets were slick.

Oregon will beat either USC or ASU, but not both.

I'd make you eat crow here but I wasn't around to talk about the game before hand. It will be interesting to see how well they use their bye week and how well Dixon does on the national scene again on ESPN at Arizona a week from Thurs.

Hey, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I didn't think that they'd win both of those games, but they proved me wrong. They looked really good against ASU, so I'm starting to think that something special could be going on this season. Good for them. They are really getting exposure in the national media.

That's for sure. But they still have a long way to go on defense - the season is far from over, and I'm very worried about all three of their next games, especially at UCLA. And of course on December 1st the Beavs will be ready.

They'll win a nice bowl for sure. National Champions? Well...the Ducks are playing very good, but Ohio State is just brutal...

Anyways, go Ducks!

Ducks should be happy just winning the Pac 10 and making a BCS bowl. If the national championship game works out, then great, but the BCS ranking are out of their hands in many ways.

I can't help but watch thinking that Ohio State is overrated, not to mention the rest of the Big, um, 10 or so. Drives me up the wall. I'm hoping Michigan has improved, but Mike Hart is way too banged up to be the difference he can be.

I wretch at the thought that it seems forces are out in earnest to set up some other BCS bowl with a rematch v Oklahoma. Guess I don't think much more of the big 12 this year.

Well, I have managed to boycott BCS games the last few years. I've failed once at doing that for the Oregon game... but I can write up any sponsors and give them the what for.

I completely agree. UO was picked to finish 5th or 6th in the Pac 10. We're all thrilled with how they're doing and that for the first time in a few years they didn't have a late season slide.

Well unless Ohio State or LSU completely self destruct in their final games they are the likely combatants for the "FICTIONAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP." The Ducks will end up in the Rose Bowl against the Big 10 runnerup unless the Rose Commitee demands a higher ranked tem.

I'm holding out that the Ducks win out and LSU drops at least one out of their last three games and they switch places on the last week of the season.

Lookie there.....got my 100th posts

Anybody else think it's ridiculous Kansas is in the top 5 in the BCS? The only two teams they've beaten who have winning records are Central Michigan and Texas A&M. A&M is not a very good team this year, and CMU? Come on. Kansas deserves to be ranked one spot ahead of Hawaii. Their cupcake scheduling merits them games outside the BCS. Kansas got really lucky this year. No Texas, or Oklahoma, and the Big 12 north outside of Missouri non competitive? Oregon got lucky with all their tough games at home, but winning against top 15 opponents has to mean something, otherwise why rank at all? That said, even if KU finishes the regular season unbeaten, they'll most likely lose in the Big 12 title game, so I guess this is less relevant if that's the case.

Who is #1 in FCS? Every team who should be in the top 10 has a fairly bad loss, so KU and Hawaii slip in.

My top 10 based on this bizarro season (and I know there is no way KU will finish outside the BCS top 12 in reality):
1 LSU --NC
2 Oregon --NC
3 Ohio State --Rose
4 West Virginia --Orange
5 Oklahoma --Fiesta
6 Georgia --Sugar
7 Virginia Tech --Orange
8 Kansas --What they deserve unless they win the Big 12 title game-Cotton. If they win --Fiesta
9 Hawaii --Sugar
10 Arizona State --Holiday

I would like to see Oregon and Oklahoma match up in the title game. For that to happen, Oregon has to win out, LSU must lose a game at the very least, and OK has to win out including the Big 12 championship game.

Kansas will work their way out. They have some darn tough games coming up, and if they somehow win all of them, they will deserve to be there. Also, on a side note, the head coach for Kansas is half man, and half walrus.

So sorry for the Ducks.

Even sorrier for Dixon.
