Nice article in the Trib.

Certainly the most pleasant surprise, though, was the performance of the offense, especially quarterback Dylan Orms.

Orms, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior, may have taken a big step toward the starting quarterback job as he completed 6-of-8 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns and looked in complete command of the offense.

this was interesting:

Orms also may have helped put to rest the notion he is purely a running quarterback. None of his passes was prettier than an 86-yard scoring strike he lofted from the pocket to junior Denzel Hutchings, who cradled it in his arms in full stride as he raced to the end zone.

I've posted this before, but I'll mention it again. Orms gives us the best shot to win. I try not to play arm chair coach, and I'm sure the coaches will start the best, but the kid is too good not to start.

Got a look at the QB depth chart:

1. Orms
2. Labato
3. Baca
4. Deen

What do you mean you got a look at the QB depth chart? Is it posted somewhere or did you look over the shoulder of one of the coaches. I'm wondering where the depth chart is posted for all positions or if one exists at this point?

Orms officially No. 1 QB for UNC football

Its official: Junior Dylan Orms is the starting quarterback of the University of Northern Colorado football team for now. What may be a bigger surprise is who is No. 2 on the depth chart.

Seth Lobato, the former Eaton High School standout and University of Colorado transfer, has moved ahead of sophomore Matt Baca and redshirt freshman Cameron Deen into the No. 2 spot.

Orms has had a strong fall camp and capped it off in Saturday's scrimmage by completing for 6-of-8 passes 131 yards and three TDs in what offensive coordinator Greg Peterson called "separation week" for the quarterbacks.

Read more about the quarterback situation and a profile on the UNC tight ends in Thursday's Tribune.

I was able to catch a practice this week and here's my take on the QB position. Orms is the starter; he won it in competition. He knows the offense better than the Lobato kid, which is understandable, and he's a proven commodity. He's been out there when the real bullets are flying. But the question is, can he stay healthy with the way he plays? Part of what makes Orms good is that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get a first down but he takes some vicious hits. In my opinion Lobato is the better passer, plus he's big, strong and can run. He's also very calm and steps up into the pocket. And he sees and throws so well over the offensive line which is big this year from tackle to tackle. He's going to be a great backup and I predict he'll set all kinds of records at UNC during his career.
I hope that both get an opportunity to play in the Adams St. game so that those fans who've not been able to see both of these guys play will get the chance. It's finally good to have so much talent at the QB position and I'm including in that talent Baca and Deen too.

Nice story on Dylan's mom and grandma (grandma is a poster on this board) in todays Denver Post. This kid is going to be something special for UNC. Can't wait for the Orm's era to begin!!

I remember her posting about a gathering at a Greeley bar and grill for a road game. I assumed it was his mom. I tired to find the post but couldn't.
