Just stumbled across this site on an insomnia induced late night. Thought I'd give a shout out to the Vikings!

Your team looked pretty good last week. I might just have to color myself a quasi fan. I can't say I know much about the team, but they looked much better than I had expected. I do think that Riley was playing this one close to the vest, but still, the lack of pressure that we were able to put on Hubel was surprising. Not only do the Vikings pass the eye ball test from the stands - linemen looked good size and well put together, but that Hubel kid has good poise and throws a nice ball, and it seems that there are a couple of decent athletes for him to throw to.

I'll definitely be watching what PSU does this year. Didn't PSU used to rock the Big Sky? Would be good to see them get back there. Honestly, I think it would be pretty sweet if PSU could make the jump up to D1A. I can think of at least a couple of programs in the WAC that your team is already better than. The school is certainly big enough to support it, is it not? Where the hell are you guys gonna play now that they are turning PGE Park into a freeking soccer stadium ( so dumb)?

Anyway, good luck the rest of the way! This Beaver fan will be cheering for ya. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't see any PSU fans wandering around our tailgate area to pester with a beer. Oh well, perhaps next time.

Go Vikings!
GO BEAVS!!

Thanks, Joe.
I expect some good things from the team this year.
As for PGE Park, the Viks will continue to play in the stadium.
The MLS season will not conflict significantly with the FBS schedule.
Win the Pac-10 this year, will ya?

Thanks for your kind words, Joe. As for FBS football, we are closely watching the WAC. Sooner or later, one of those teams will drop out of the divsion, and then we'll be there. In order to ascend, we need to win the Big Sky first, which is not an easy task with Montana on top. If we are able to consistently compete with the Grizzlies, I think we will be fine in a conference like the WAC.

And like dystopianmembrane said, go and win the PAC-10 this year! My Cougs won't be a factor this season, so I hope that OSU will do some terrible damage to Washington, USC, and Oregon. It'd feel better about the whole conference if Cal didn't look so frighteningly good...

Joe - Your Rodgers brothers were spectacular! Hope you take the Pac-10, or at the very least take out UW and UO. We've got a ways to go to join the WAC, though. Check back in in 3-4 years.

Good stuff. Glad to hear you'll still be at PGE.

Incidentally, what does a ticket normally run for a PSU game? What would be good game to go to on one of these dates?:

Obviously, after last year it's tough to get our hopes up too high for a Pac10 championship. Mother pucker it's REALLY tough to actually pull of the hat trick. We've been sooo close a few time this decade, and always seem to end up just short. We last went to "The Granddaddy of Them All" in 1965, so if and when we do get there it will probably be well after the game before any of us really believe that we actually made it.

That said, I do harbor some real hope for this years team. One thing that isn't talked about much outside of Corvallis is that the depth of talent at OSU has steadily risen over the years under Riley, and we - for the first time really - are truly on par with most of the other teams on the conference in terms of quality depth and talent. Even after losing a bunch of players off the team last year. It is starting to come down to simply coaching and executing for the Beavs. Since Riley, and more importantly, his staff are as good as any coaching unit out there, it's hard not to start to have visions of spending New Years in LaLa land. Still, I wont be packing my bags for anywhere until the Civil War is over, the duck fans are properly crying in their beers, and the official word comes out that we are headed to Pasadena.

Also, while it might be somewhat out of place for Oregon to field a third D1A team before Washington does. Considering the populations. PSU is the largest school in the state, located in the 4th largest City on the left coast. I would think it's just a matter of time before the Viks make the jump. At least, I wouldn't be surprised. Could PSU support it financially? I think that is the only question that really needs to be answered. Manufacturing 50 or 60K butts in the seats shouldn't be a problem in a city nearing 2 mil. The talent would come with the level of play. Maybe I'm out of line here, but I would love to see it happen before I die in 30 to 50 years.

Single game seats will run 14.00 for GA, then 20.00 or 35.00 for reserved.

Here's the breakdown of the sections:

Awesome, thanks!

Sounds like Montana State is the big dog, so I'll definitely come up (Salem) for that one, and try to bring another body or two.

If I can talk my brother into a Viking gameday, we'll be there in force. What's the tailgating like? Is there areas where our Norse brethren will welcome a couple wayward Beaver souls into their camps, or is it more of a private affair?

The parking lot on 18th and Salmon has some accommodating Viking folks that will probably welcome you in.
